If you've never been, then Taipei ... just Taipei, free and easy.

Don't bother trying to tour more than just Taipei, don't say 4D3N, even 1 week is not enough, and don't bother signing up for any tour groups, they are a waste of time. Just google the locations of night markets and places of interest and take the MRT, or cab after MRT operating hours ... don't let MRT operating hours limit where you can go and what you can do.

4D3N is just nice for Taipei actually, just make sure you plan your days ahead of your flight.

1st time The Other Half and I went to Taipei we went for a week ... by about 4th to 5th day we'd already seen everything we'd wanted to see and that was inclusive of a lot of slacking in the hotel room, and we ended up wasting a few hours at Starbucks every day just to pass the time.

hmm i had 4 days in taipei last time, felt i needed another day or two for new taipei city (outskirts of taipei), partly because we tried almost all the night markets in taipei, in the end all same same one
