4tb hdd... is it safe??

I had 2 4tb hdd suddenly files disappear and n the drives sometimes can see sometime cannot see. is it hdd fail or what? I bought the drives last year and did not really use yet . Now i need to backup my stuffs (cos my backups in the 2 4tb cant use anymore and i cant trust them liao)

Shall i buy 4tb again or just buy 2 * 2tb? My 2tbs wre working fine.

the 2 4tb drives are WD and seagate.

im going to get new drive definately, just dont know what to get. any advise?
(lost touch in such things ever since enter uni)

seems like failing already, since its only one year, can go rma
go for HGST 4tb, one of the best drive right now in the market

o ok. since u both recomand HGST, will check this out for pricing then. thanks for the info

so i can still trust 4tb ar?

TS, are your 4TB HDD internal 3.5" or external 2.5" type?

HDD are just like that nowadays.

That reminds me, time to get a 4TB from black friday to mirror my current 4TB.

For seagate thats normal no worries.

By chance are you using MBR or GPT?
COz i remembered having those symptoms earlier in the 2TB days when MBR usage was common. The fix was to just use GPT.

Been using 2TB / 4TB drives
4TB drives are safe as they provide the sweet spot regarding UREs copared to the higher capacity drives

ANd BTW, there is no substitute for backup. Backup important data regularly...
