Ribbon cables and other cables can be corroded and the trace destroyed by liquid

The motherboard itself, not so actually. After soldering they are cleaned with a solvent.

I did that for every year and my motherboard still in use after 20+ years. The only repairs I did to the board was replacing the bloated capicators, that extended it's lifespan till today.

I'm giving it a final stretch of life till end of the year before I retire it for good.
