Do you guys think that my 5-year old Seasonic PSU 620W can take the load of GTX 1060? Should I take the chance since no more warranty, or just get a new one? Or should I have more faith..:s13:

The point to consider is whether or not the motherboard and cpu still under warranty. A failing PSU can take CPU/motherboard/ram/etc along too.

I don't think it will die that soon if it's of a good quality. After all, seasonic X has 7yr warranty.. not sure about your model.
I'd go with "use it till the end".
I think 620W should be okay for a 1080 as well.. depending on what else you have in your system.

if it can last u this long why u have to worry :s13:...dont it show it reliability?and for me just use it until it die...most seasonic psu model got total protection from over voltage, over power,Short Circuit

The PSU requirement for a GTX 1060 is 400 to 450W. It is nowhere near the 620W PSU, which therefore will have no problem taking the load.

If a PSU has been consistently power a rig that use say 300w for a long time, then suddenly need an additional 100w to power a power hungry graphics card, it may fail.

I have a friend whose PSU exploded and trip house breaker a month after graphics card upgrade. His PSU just 3 years old when it decided to bloom. Luckily for him, no other damage beside dead PSU.

It might but it shouldn't. It's a 620 taking in 300 everyday and suddenly you add in another 100 it's still within what it can take with lots to spare.

Coolermaster Real Power (discontinued) 550w.

There is no guarantee a failing PSU with protection will not kill other component even for branded ones. However, the risk is lower for high end than those cheapo one.

Going by the logic, we should:

1) Change PSU once warranty is over.
2) Buy a over wattage psu.
