马国当局树立告示，指“任何意外请自负”，禁止公众步行过长堤。本地交通专家指出，步行本属无奈，吁请两国政府协商，打造更好的步道。

新山的新海关、移民及检疫中心（CIQ）启用后，马国当局就已树立禁止公众步行过长堤的告示，甚至还派警员把守，导致“步行族”逐渐减少。不过，由于交通仍阻塞，步行过长堤的现象大约三年前重现。

网友在面簿社群分享，指马国当局最近又树立告示牌，说明通往兀兰的通道禁止行人使用，还说“任何意外请自负”，引起热议。

新加坡国立大学土木工程系教授李德纮博士受访时指出，五年前原本没人提出步行过长堤的做法，但现在大家却迫于无奈。

“长堤拥挤非常严重，不能单纯希望2024年地铁通车就会改善，中间的过渡期也不短，不能不做任何事。”

两国政府 应打造安全步道

他认为，两国政府应针对步行过长堤这个现象协商，达成一个共识，如果能更好地规范路线，对纾解交通相信会有一定的帮助。

李德纮认为，两国若同意开放步行，就必须探讨如何在现有的环境结构之下，例如是否加宽走道、加盖和加强保安，让公众安全通行。

Lol.. it is no different from the usual jaywalking in sg. Vendors in JB, and it is not everyday one can have the luxury of pte transport to and fro.

Just be careful and stay alert if you want to walk across the Causeway

I would prefer to get the shuttle train ticket, though...
