hi guys, would like all 5960x users to come and give some feedback. i find that my temps for this cpu is rather high. also, its throttling when stress testing my system. my current setup:
oc to 4.5ghz
vcore: 1.288v
temps at 100% cpu: 95
cool with corsair h100i gen1.

pls state your current config.

oc speed

i seen a few sites, they state <1.3v with 4.5ghz is a good chip... but the temps shld not be this high too right?

Is the OC done manually or auto ?

Some advise against auto OC by OEM utility as it uses too much voltage..

Maybe other experts here can help.. out

its done manually. if done auto or offset or adaptive, it will crash..

Which sites you take reference? Remember ang moh countries ambient temps are much lower than us. You can see all their temps damn cold.

Always see their ambient temps and compare Delta T. Else it wont be accurate.

1.3V 5960x 4.5ghz is really can cook egg already.

If in doubt check your cooler does it mount properly. If so then yes it is indeed hot. Tone down the oc settings to a lesser aggresive oc profile.

this is the site im referring to for oc. https://rog.asus.com/articles/overclocking/rog-overclocking-guide-core-for-5960x-5930k-5820k/

and this for temps. http://www.anandtech.com/show/8426/...view-core-i7-5960x-i7-5930k-i7-5820k-tested/3

the cooler is mounted properly.. i limit my max temp to 95 alr. yup im aware of the temps diff in diff countries.

My aida64, 4.5 core & 3.4 cache at 1.2v adaptive, other settings at stock.

OC of Intel CPU now depends on the inbuilt VID, not much you can do besides lower settings or using stronger cooler.

Dont use Prime95 for sure. I also never run long hours of stress test, just short runs 30mins each from Realbench, 3dmark, h264, and it has been stable for me. Dont waste time fretting on stress tests. :)

What cooler are you using? how come your temps are way lower than mine? im not worried about the stress test. i am making sure that my oc is stable and also want to monitor the temps. when using realbench tempa go as high as 85-90.
