Hello people, I need some help with my itinerary for my 5D4N Taiwan trip.

Will be travelling with my family of 5.

Will reach Taoyuan Airport on 21 May, 5.30am and boarding the 3.30pm flight on 25 May.

Will be staying at Ximending.

Here are some places that I researched:

Day 1: Taipei 101 -> Wufenpu -> Raohe Night Market
Day 2: Shifen -> Jiufen -> Miaokou Night Market
Day 3: Jinshan Old Street -> Jinbaoli Old Street -> Yehliu -> Tamsui Old Street -> Tamsui Fisherman's Wharf -> Shilin Night Market
Day 4: ?
Day 5: ?

Is the plan for day 2 too cramped? Is it worthwhile to hire a cab driver or travel on my own?

Need some recommendations for Day 4 and Day 5.

Any other constructive comments are appreciated.

Thanks.

TMS take train to Ruifang, one hour . Ruifang walk 10 min to take bus 1062 to jiufen around 15 min, then take back bus 1062 go up jinguangshi, then take bus 1062 back to ruifang.

Then Ruifang take ping xi line to shifen, around 30min, but must take note that one hour only have one train.

As above. If need cab booking, then will be able to squeeze day 22-23 to one. But that price is going to cost like 3500NT per day. I rather you take it slow and enjoy your holiday.

Wow, u need 10mins to cross the street infront of ruifang main entrance to the bus stop directly opposite for 1062?

hey GF, an update to you. Now that bus is no longer opposite Ruifang station liao, you need to walk out of the station, turn left and walk about 10 minutes down that two way road. :) I'm not sure WHEN they changed that bus stop but when I was there in November 2013 the change have already taken place. Was in Taiwan in Jan 2013, April 2013 and Nov 2013.

edit* I was with my family in Nov 2013 so we decided to take a cab up to Jiufen after hearing that there was a change to the bus stop's location. Four of us and cabbing up is not too expensive.

The bus stop opposite will come into action only when it's weekend. Weekdays generally bus will still stop there.

Taxi ride up cost 180NT, so if got 4 pax, pay like 80NT/4 more, still worthwhile.

Thanks for your recommendation!

For 24/5, is it recommended to shop at Zhongshan Metro Mall also?

Is Simple Market opened in the morning? I searched online and found out that it's opened from 1pm onwards.

Any recommendations on sun biscuits and pineapple tarts?

Sun biscuits in Taipei: Chiate, Wego.

If weekday leh? Does it stop at the bus stop opposite Ruifang station? Or I need to walk down for 10min like what previous members said?

I recall is opposite. If last min change, dun worry. Follow the crowd and update here accordingly.
