I'm travelling with family of 4(2A2C) for the first time in Tokyo for 6 days in June 2015. Any places of interest and hotels to stay? Wish to stay near train station exploring Tokyo. Appreciate your feedbacks.
My first time in Japn, wanna explore Tokyo first...I am planning to stay Sunroute near Shinjuku. But am willing to know better alternatives. Where u planning to stay?
Not planning to travel to Hakone or further?
Sounds good. is it near train station?if u all want cheap and good i can recommend. 4000 yen/night... a bit like motel kinda level, but surrounded by 7-11, 24 hours super market and Donki hote, at Asakusa area...
No breakfast. For twin is 6000 yen/night
Let me know.
There are many hotels around there...will there be a language barrier if there are populated by students?another alternative is Ueno
Ueno is well connected to various train lines such as Yamanote line (to Shinjuku, Harajuku etc), Keisei line (to Narita ariport), and Metro Ginza line (to Asakusa, Ginza).
Ueno also has many choice for cheap dining coz the area is frequented by students

any interesting places to visit in Tokyo?
Nice...How about the hotels near Ueno? Any to intro...I usually try to stay near stations with direct train access to either Narita or Haneda airport (depending on which airport I would be using for that particular trip).
Although Shinagawa station area has not much attractions other than just hotels, but I liked staying at Shinagawa because there's direct train from there to Narita Airport, Haneda airport, Shinkansen, as well as various trains lines like JR Yamanote Loop line.
I agree with Ueno being well connected, which is why I will be staying at a hotel near there for my upcoming trip in 2 weeks' time. Many hotels here might be a tad old, but the rates are also cheaper than many other parts of Tokyo. There's Ameyokocho street nearby as well as direct train to Narita airport (via Keisei line from Keisei-Ueno station).
Japan-guide website is a good place to start.

thanks. good inputs!if u dun mind walking a bit, Super Hotel Iriyaguchi is good.
i like Super Hotel Chain for their breakfast, which include free flow of anything from their vending machine. also the little things like extra pillow of various hardness which u can get from the lobby, and facemask and bath soap for ladies.
only setback is that the ueno branch is about 5min walk from Iriya exit of Ueno station, which is at the other end of the station. if u are walking from Keisei station, it is about 10-15min.
I notice that when I choose a hotel, they din ask for credit card to confirm booking...anyone can share their experiences

yes I've check with them that they accept most credit cardsnot all hotels ask for credit cards for confirmation. usually those ryokan or small hotels dun, just an email or phone confirmation only.
note that for these accommodations, there is a possibility that they only accept cash payment.
