6D5N, need some help

hello peeps,
i just booked a trip to taipei travelling 6-11 march and realized i dont have much days to plan, really could need some expert help here first trip there.

my draft itinerary as follows, does this look okay? travelling with my parents and bro+SIL, 5 in total.

is 7th too cramp? do i need to stay overnight at cingjing and do SML on 8th? or i can do a day trip to cingjing?

shld i get driver or i shld stick to public transport? parents still can walk well but dont mind spending for their convenience.

6th/Friday
Touched down taoyuan airport at 2pm. Go Taichung, visit fengjia NM and have dinner there.
7th/Saturday
Cingjing, Sun Moon Lake
8th/Sunday
Taipei – Free and Easy
9th/ Monday
1 day tour – yehliu, jiu fen, shi fen, keelung etc. (probably hire a driver)
10th/ Tuesday
Taipei – XMD, Shilin NM
11th/ Wed
Free and easy
Flight depart at 4pm @ taoyuan airport

bad time to go SML on a weekend.

I suggest you flip the itenary. Do tpe first then taichung and SML/cingjing, as somebody mention, going sml and cingjing on weekends is a bad move. Also not possible to do SML & Cingjing in 1 day, if not really is touch and go.


6th/Friday
Touched down taoyuan airport at 2pm.
Taipei – XMD, Shilin NM

7th/Saturday
1 day tour – yehliu, jiu fen, shi fen, keelung etc. (probably hire a driver)

8th/Sunday
Taipei – Free and Easy

9th/ Monday
Travel to Cingjing (7am got direct bus from tpe main station to cingjing, reach abt 12+1pm)
Cingjing -overnight

10th/ Tuesday
Morn - Green Green grassland
Afternoon- travel to taichung
Taichung -overnight

11th/ Wed
Can:
1. Slowly train to taoyuan (can shop abit at taoyuan)
2. HSR to taoyuan. (very fast can reach airport)
Flight depart at 4pm @ taoyuan airport

If you want to go sml then have to forgo F&E at TPE.


But as first timer to taiwan, I dont suggest you pack ur itenary too tight. Just spend all 6 days at tpe or maybe just tpe and taichung only.

I would still suggest ending in TPE before departure..

Just in case some screw up, you are able to get to the airport easier from TPE than from Taichung/SML...

actually im more keen in cingjing than taichung; im only interested in feng jia NM. or shld i skip cingjing totally and focus on taichung and tpe? main objective is to make this a fun trip for my parents; rush is a no no.

if i were to flip the itinerary, im worried abt lugging the belongings to cingjing considering all shopping will be done at tpe.

actually to me, i think cingjing got nothing much to do...probably just go for the experience of seeing the sheeps upclose and enjoy the cool weather, which is similar to genting? i would prefer to spend more time at taichung - fengjia. probably 2 nights is required to shop that area cos it's really very big! day time you can go to SML, or other attractions around taichung. btw if you need a driver, i can recommend you mine. he's driving a brand new 9-seater car (just change his car early this month), and service is good!

7/3:（台中）埔里酒厂~大坑纸箱王~921地震展览馆~集集小镇~宿集集民宿（香榭雅筑民宿）
8/3:（南投）日月潭游湖~九族文化村~宿台北 （西门町自由行）
9/3:（台北）野柳~九份老街~黃金瀑布~陰陽海~黃金博物館~十分車站（放天燈）~基隆廟口夜市~宿台北
10/3：
Option 1:（台北）阳明山～故宫博物院～淡水渔人码头～淡水老街～士林夜市
Option 2: （台北）自由行: 台北101~五分埔~饶河夜市

11/3: （台北）中正纪念堂~回酒店准备回程~桃园机场

If rush is a no no and comfortable is what you are concerning, hiring a driver is a good option, it did leave me good travelling experience in my first trip to Taiwan.

My suggestion is to hire driver from 6/3 to 9/3, and 10/3 (if your option is 1). On 11/3, you may ride on 国光客运 from Taipei Station to airport.

Also, I strongly recommend to stop by Jiji Township, 香榭雅筑民宿 is the best ever minsu I have stayed, especially their breakfast set, too yummy.. .
