6pin to 6pin for GPU

Hi,

Just wanna ask, my Zotac 1650 Super is rated for 100W, which mean the PCI slot at 75W needs a 6pin input.

Previously I was using a 8pin to 6+2 (splitting into another 6+2) and my GPU works fine.

Yesterday as I mgirated to a new case, I used a 6pin to 6pin (I found the 8to8+8 long & messy), the PC refused to boot. Light comes on my RAM and motherboard but all my fans not moving.

Switching back the cable makes everything works.

I read 8pin to 6+2 provides 150W + PCIe = 225W. But for the 6 to 6 which carries 75W, + PCIe = 150W.

Any idea why my PC won't boot? I'm using 650W Corsair RM650.

Use the provided cable from Corsair than splitter/conversion cable.
If you feel messy can use cable tie to tidy the cables.

Think you misunderstood. All my cables are from Corsair.

One of the cables is a 8pin to 8 (6+2) and 8(6+2).

The other is a 6pin to 6pin.

I'm asking why the former works and the latter doesn't.


p/s: it's messy because the connecting end to GPU has 2 wires dangling as it only uses 6pin, so a 2pin and 6+2 is dangling, using cable tie or not, does not help.

does ur PSU that side say PCIE for the 6-6pin connection area, u could have connect into another port in the PSU meant for other things.

RM650 should be only able to connect 8pin-6+2 pin i think for PCIE slot,

Looking at the picture of this PSU it should have 4 port 6-pin connector probably can try on each port, could be some port is malfunction

Hi! Thanks for the reply, it does say 'Peripherals & SATA'.

Previously due to my oversight, I did not notice I had a 6-6pin so I used a 8-8(6+2) and 8(6+2). Due to my old casing not having cable management abilities, I finally bought a new case and found the 6-6 but unfortunately doesn't work

Thanks! If it is so then I have no choice but to consider custom cables so that it looks neater.

I have previously tried that 6pin slot for molex/SATA power it works fine actually, am using another 6pin for SATA power, works fine also. Maybe I'll try on the weekend for every 6 pin slot.
