They told me the handling is not something to die for. I am an a**hole when it comes to driving, right now 2.0L I'm already a road hazard, if I go higher then handling needs to match as well. So definitely need considering.

Was looking at the GLC SUV, don't think will go for Coupe, my parents have weak knees, thus the reason I changed from Mazda3 to CX-5, if I'm driving alone always... whoo hoo..... :X

The 3.3L CX-60 I heard they brought in one but it was not released for sale, that would be a beast on the roads IIRC it was like what... 4.6s for 0-100? Or did I remember wrongly? Never got to see that unit though. I only sat in the 2.5 NA version and never got to drive it as it was always test driven or used by reviewers. I did 165 ... erm... not in NSH :s13: I was trying to outrun another ah which refused to filter to lane 2 despite all other lanes empty, I let loose and let him catch up then I sprinted away.

Told you, I'm a road hazard. :s13:

For Lexus, I don't have a good impression apart from the IS250 I'm guessing the boxy design, and taillights turn me off as well as the flat backside design, it looks a lot like CHR with the Note crossed in looks. Looks like a BlueSG on the roads, just larger.

However, that's my preference and views only, everybody likes what they like. I also like Maserati but not like that I can afford it :s13: practicability wise, I'm happy with another CX for another 10 years.
Oh wow, brother! I'm no saint either! That's why I need more power, haha!

I know GLC's handling is not as good as X3 but I thought it should be decent.

I told TEK that at $300k, they are up against contis (which I'm sure they know) and for people who can afford $300k+ cars, they can surely afford the road tax for 3.3 litres turbo. We are not talking about bread and butter cars at $150k.

Lexus RX surely lose out to GLC and CX-60 or 80 in terms of handling as it's more for comfort and luxury. I'm quite torn in between because my wife likes the RX's comfort but I don't like the boring drive and handling. We also drive far up north into Malaysia quite every 3-4 months.

Someone in EDMW suggested that if I have the budget for GLC Coupe, why not look at Maserati Grecale as it's almost the same price. Really is top up a bit a bit, haha!

I haven't tried it for myself, I'm hesitative to step into the dealers and test the cars I'm keen on. Don't really want to trouble them and give them hope that I'm going to purchase one right there and then.

TEK wise, I already told my SE, their CX-60 pricing pushed a lot of buyers to GLB200 as it was priced too near. Although you get a special car collection area, some freebies like hotel stay with breakfast, special advisor at servicing etc... it still lacks because it is a JDM after all. Seeing them bring in the PHEV CX-80 was like shooting themselves further in the foot with that pricing.

I've only seen like 2 CX-60s on the roads so far. I see more CX-8 than CX-60s on the roads. Comfort and luxury is important inside and outside the car. Handling and luxury is something I enjoy now after going to Mazda. Mazda3 already spoilt me, and then the CX-5 and CX-60. I know going to Conti is another whole different class but the price is too near to fight. 3.3L tax is not that expensive, though at the time of paying I'll surely scream and shake my head but to pay 3.3L tax for a JDM, I think most would consider again, so I don't know what makes TEK think the CX-80 is going to rock, seems pretty heavy machine for a 2.5 NA.

Lexus is never a consider for me, I don't know why, perhaps I don't like the logo? My friend likes the RX which i'm sure he has his reasons, but I guess I don't. I sit comfortably in the CX right now, lean back nicely and drive slowly with leisure, it just feels awesome. The Bose sound system is not the best, but for the layman like me, it's sufficient.

I honestly think if you have to go for RX, maybe the CX-80 would be a better choice or the GLC Coupe. Maybe even consider the Q5, I pretty much like the size. For Maserati, I don't know the price and options available as I'm not considering those. I pretty much prefer to stick with common cars for the availability of parts and reliability known. I'm a low risk appetite person.

Big brother @EJB, how are all these cars compared to Attrage?

I think we are quite similar. I didn't go test drive as I'm not ready to commit yet. As soon as one of the cars check all my boxes, I will go test drive and negotiate a price to buy.

Yeah, CX-8 is rare on the roads and CX-60 is even more rare. Indeed, Mazda already spoilt us. If you are happy with CX-5, you will be happier with CX-8 because the insulation is a lot better and the car is a lot more stable at high speeds. While acceleration is not the best, high speed overtaking is more than sufficient for the 2.5NA engine.

I'm likely not to even view the Maserati because just like you, I'm more keen on common cars for practical reasons. Maybe if I win Toto then I might consider buying the Maserati as a second car, haha!

I usually go in, sign and go already, I like the car, means I like the car, no need to go around so much. CX-5 I went in, signed, then test drive. Don't really like to waste time go showroom and keep testing or looking, like it, I just buy, don't make so much deliberations and tests.

Upgrading from Mazda3 to CX-5, it's already a lot of improvement from handling to insulation. My CX-5 is quieter than my previous 3 in many aspects. Gadgets wise, it is also more nifty from electronic seats both sides to memory seats, to car play to braking assists, 360 cam etc... I'm sure jumping to CX-8 would prove beneficial, but my rear seats would as I mentioned, perpetually forever be down, I like to sit in the boot in carpark at times for personal time away from colleagues. Sitting in the boot, lying down, or leaning along the sides, lets me enjoy my lunch and movies in peace.

From 1.5 to 2, I'm already awed by the power difference of 500cc, going to 2.5, and doing another tune, I'm sure I'll be a way bigger AH :s13:

Do remember to buy toto, but honestly, if I strike, I also won't change car unless for sure I know what I want. Originally was looking at Q5, then I saw the GLC350, then I saw the X3 boot, argh!!!! So I lost my confidence in 'what I want' already :(

Well, I guess there's always some trade-offs. When I decided to consider the GLC Coupe, I already knew what I would be getting myself into if I buy it.

I want a last fling with petrol!

I'm too lazy to dabble with EV, the worries of idling, running out of electricity and available charging points... I think a 10 mins visit to petrol stations are more convenient.

As for the GLC Coupe, if you do decide, just get it, everything else that worries will fall into place eventually, overworrying is pointless.

EV and PHEV are not for me now.

If there's no good 6 or 7 seater SUV, I will get 5 seater SUV. No choice.

True, life is too short to overworry.

Would anyone consider Subaru eBoxer Forester though it is 5-seater?

Only if you are price-sensitive.

I can list three disadvantages:
  1. CVT - snoozefest
  2. Symmetrical AWD - not as fuel efficient
  3. Outgoing model - facelift should be out next year with a totally different drivetrain, a 2.5L 'strong' hybrid, which likely will not sell well because of high road tax.

I see point 2 as an advantage instead of con.
