$700 budget gaming pc

Hi guys I'm looking to go down to SLS later in the evening to buy pc.

My current requirements are:

• No Windows OS (I got free one from school)
• No Monitor (I'm using a 1680 x 1050 monitor, sometimes when play AAA games can connect to 720p TV for higher framerates. Unless it's worth it to get a monitor with my budget..
• No kb/mouse

I plan to play steam games (indie), dota2 and some AAA games.

Some additional questions:
1) Is this updated and good enough for my needs? Is it worth it to upgrade to i5? Will it make a difference in the games I play? What about jumping to r9 270?
2) Should I downgrade to a Pentium? Read that the only difference is hyperthreading and apparently games don't make use of hyperthreading at all. The money saved can go towards getting a monitor or trackball.
3) What if the case/psu is sold out? What should I go for next?

A shop I went offered me the above specs, but change the motherboard to Asus H81-ME and psu to Silverstone 500W for $704. Is it good?

Which silverstone 500w? And which shop you went to?

Asus H81-Me has 1 more pcie x1 slot, although the 1 nearest to the pcie x16 will be covered.

Both have same amount of UBS2.0/3.0 ports at the rear.

Both have same amount of sata ports.

ASUS have 2x 4-pin headers whereas ASrock have 2x 4-pin and 1x 3-pin headers.

So, its up to you, which colour scheme you like. But take more concern about the psu. Dun anyhow get.

ASUS is a reasonable brand to use (depends on who you speak to), it is (usually) better than Asrock. However, what matters more are the features on the mobos being compared. For 99% of users, the number of sata and usb ports are what that make most of the difference (since neither boards are for OCing).

Silverstone PSUs are generally decent quality to good quality. However, the model matters as much as the brand.

The Asrock has x2 PCI-E x16 with crossfire support.

He going for the H81m hds? And the xfire limitation would be x8 x4. Not that good.

I think it is PCI-E 2.0 at x16, x4, but I don't like the PCI-E 2.0 x4 for crossfire either.

So bought already? FSP Hexa would provide equivalent or better quality, energy efficiency and also a longer 3 years warranty though.

Not yet, I placed a $200 deposit with receipt (Receipt wrote the same parts as jian suggested, except the motherboard has been changed to the Asus one under his suggestion), though he called me earlier to tell me that FSP Hexa is oos and ask me if I want to change to silverstone PSU for extra $4. According to him the silverstone PSU has the same specs and 80+ efficiency, not sure which model it is however.

The reason I am asking here is to check if what he said is true before I head down tomorrow morning to finish the transaction.

EDIT: Forgot to add, he's offering to DIY for me FOC. To me it's so-so cuz I can probably learn to DIY myself anyway.

It should be a Silverstone Strider Essential. ~400W on the +12V should be fine.

Thank you guys, I have bought my system. The shop name is Ray Technology Development Pte Ltd, 1st shop when you come out of escalator on 4th floor.

The service was good and helpful, and the technician helped me do cable management quite decent. The owner (Jeff)'s recommendations for out of stock stuff are at least the same quality or better I guess. I didn't go to Tradepac because one of their guys told me that Zotac GTX 750 Ti was unavaliable and wanted me to get the Palit one which is much more expensive. The only blemish was that I had to wait 3 hours for their stock of USB wifi card to arrive, before he gave up waiting for the delivery man and pulled stock from another stock. Should have done that from the start though. Here's the specs I bought:
