For 'property agent', it depend if you want want to be a freelancer with a company by taking Real Estate Salesperson examination (RES) or open your own company by taking with Real Estate Agency examination (REA).

From my limited understanding, the old birds do not needs GCE O while the new birds required it. So old birds always ask new birds to take private diploma so that they meet the requirement of GCE O & above. That why, it is not wrong to say ITE graduate can be 'property agent' too.

Hi Plow98, I am from NUS Real Estate.

Do you know NUS Real Estate allows you to have a diverse career opportunities?
Valuation (eg. IRAS)
Urban Planning (eg. URA)
Research and Consultancy (eg. Knight Frank)
Asset and Property Management (eg. CapitaLand)
Leasing and Marketing (eg. JTC)
Investment & Advisory (eg. Ascendas REIT, Keppel REIT)*

Why would a NUS Real Estate degree holder become a real estate salesperson? Probably less than 1% do so.

Yes, being a salesperson do not need a NUS Real Estate degree, but a NUS Real Estate degree holder need not become a Real Estate agent.

How is it relevant in this thread whether ITE graduate can be a Property Agent? TS was requesting some opinion on whether NUS Real Estate was also a viable degree option?

Please do not link a Real Estate degree to becoming a Property Agent. A BSc Real Estate degree, as what the other person mentions, allows you a myriad of career options, from Urban Planning, Valuation, Research to Investment and Finance.

There are bunch of renowned property developers in Singapore like CapitaLand, Far East Organization, Frasers Centrepoint, City Decelopment (CDL), United Overseas Land (UOL).

There are a bunch of Real Estate consultancy firms such as Knight Frank, CBRE, Colliers, Jones Lang Lasalle.

NUS Real Estate graduates will be first choice for these companies, given that Real Estate course is only taught in NUS, other unis don’t offer this course.

Business course is too general with no specific set of skills.

I accidentally click on this thread and saw Starbarks! belittle ITE graduate if they can be Property Agent. As you can see my comment is totally related to Property Agent and not related to NUS Real Estate and what they can do.

Kyoji83, I don't think Starbarks is trying to belittle ITE graduates as those people without minimum 4 'O' levels or higher education are not allowed to take the current RES course & its exam unless they upgrade themselves by taking & passing a WPLN course arranged by gov’t first (not private diploma as you mentioned earlier). As for those old timers they will still need to pass CEHA or CES exam when CEA (a gov’t body) came into the picture.
