I think purposely one........

This is like an interim product....till AMD release then 8000 series. 8970 get delayed and this pops out. Maybe AMD do not even have any intention to release it at all but due to 8970 delay have to release.

IMHO, the entire GPU industry is experiencing a slow down. Look at Nvidia, they are know taking Titan LE GPUs and brand them as GTX780.

Yes, thats the only thing that looks good.

But.....

For anyone who could afford a USD1000 card, would they even bother about those free games?

Seriously, AMD should sell it cheaper but take out all the games.

u buy GTX690 u have to buy those games.

u buy amd 7990 u just download and play.

Power Consumption = meh
Noise = good
Design = meh

I mean come on. For a $999 card, the workmanship could be better. Nvidia got very similar acoustics & heat performance with a more "reference-ish" design while AMD had to resort to "ala Windforce" tri-fan design. For any Elites spending $1k on a single card, I doubt spending another $400++ on the 8 games would be a big deal. Either that or they would've have the games already...
