he was born in 1939 in Bei Ping 北平 (current Beijing) b4 CCP took over China from KMT.

Beijing 北京 was known as Bei Ping 北平 before 1949, many old novels b4 1949 were using 北平

same as Jacky Chan, Samo Hung, Yuen Biao, Yuen Qiu, Yuen Wah, Corey Yuen, etc they were trained in 京剧 or Peking Opera.
