Hi all, I will be travelling to Tokyo Japan for the first time for 8D and I'm not sure if its too much just staying in Tokyo. (Not really a hardcore fan towards branded apparel/anime)

Come to think, maybe I should have started with Osaka (3D) > Kyoto (1D) > Tokyo (3D + 1D (Flying back))

Going as a Solo traveller, so itinerary wise is still flexible, and possible to go from Tokyo > Osaka and start from there. (need spend more $, since flight ticket are fixed)

Would appreciate if there's some recommendation/advise on this.

Thanks :)

Can also consider spending some days at scenic and slow paced Kawaguchiko ( Fuji 5 lakes ) to unwind, onsen.

* If you like theme parks can even go Fuji Q which is not far.

View of Fuji from Tenjoyama.

Of course it depends on what you want out of the trip.

Not sure which season you’re visiting. I’ve done a few 7-14D trips solely on Tokyo, be it solo or with the hb.

8D meaning 6 full days, minus the first and last day for your flights. Not really a lot of time.

You can choose to save travel costs and hassle to repack luggage and move hotels by saving Kansai for another trip. Unless you want to experience Shinkansen rides and don’t mind to splurge.

It’s really up to you to see what you’d like to do in your trip.

Tokyo and nearby regions is good enough for first trip.

There's a number of day trips from Tokyo.

Adding Osaka and Kyoto will increase costs. Trip will be very rushed.

Can consider the open-jaw flight via SQ.

SIN > Kansai airport (Osaka), then you take shinkansen from Osaka to Tokyo and flight back to SIN from Haneda airport (Tokyo). Can be done in vice versa direction. This option saves time.

Need ezlink card?
Iphone or Android? Iphone users can add Suica card to apple wallet.

Android users have to get any of suica or pasmo (Tokyo) or icoca (Osaka) different names but can work in Tokyo and Osaka.

Just stay the entire 8 days in the Tokyo region
As mentioned, too rushed to include Osaka/Kyoto and there are several day trips from Tokyo

Can also stay 2d1n in Hakone for ryokan/onsen/mt fuji

I know one guy who relied on iPhone for his suica

One day his luggage landed on his iPhone

Kamakura(Temples) and Yokohama(Port City) if you prefer to stick to near Tokyo and not venture out to Kansai.

Thus you replace Kyoto and Osaka.

Will be going this end of June. Based on google its rainy season, but heard from others, they said its quite hot during that period.

Nice, I guess will be staying at Tokyo to explore around and maybe take some 1 day trip out.

Any recommendation for accommodation?
(looking for a mix between capsule (1st half of the trip, maybe further off Shibuya / hotel (2nd half, nearer to Shibuya)

Don't bother with Osaka if you just there for 8 days, plenty to do. If prefer non-city vibe, can do 2-3 days to Hakone/Kawaguchi, day trip to Kamakura or Nikko.

Hot and rainy not mutually exclusive.

Depends on your luck.

I’ve visited Tokyo for a week in June and it rained everyday. Osaka in another trip in late June was super sunny, zero rain.

June is still not as bad as August. Have done that in Tokyo during Obon and my hb and I were sunburnt for two weeks.
