I know one guy who relied on iPhone for his suica

One day his luggage landed on his iPhone
not just that. if u miss a tap out on the suica for whatever reason, it will deactivate the suica until u return to the same company of that trip. this can be a problem if that company operates an ulu area and you have to return to the same ulu area.

for safety, i hold both the physical card and the e suica.

No need ulu, Enoden stations operate on a "trust" basis, just need to walk past the scanner.

Honestly I think even one week in Tokyo is not sufficient to explore the city…it’s really very big…wait till you land there you will know 🤭

And also the railway system quite complicated for first timer too. Look easy till you see for yourself, maybe you will scratch your head

Anyway you will probably get addicted like many of us here. Go one time come back still think of when going back again 😏

Last time flew into Kix, stay Osaka 3d then Kyoto 3d then Shinkansen to Tokyo stay 4d (incl kawaguchiko 2D1N )- flew out via NRT
but we had Tokyo relatives who drove us back from Gotemba/kawaguchiko - saved quite a bit of time
Did both USJ and Disney sea - was too cheapskate to buy express tickets and regret, but singles may skip some
Wasn't big on Tokyo but big fan of Kyoto so much so that next two trips went back to Kyoto ... also Kanazawa 2 times
If just staying in Tokyo you might do trips to Shirakawago/Takayama/Kamikochi
