I not GZ expert but went once before...

I prepared a long list for that...go there must eat dim sum:

Dim Sum Recommendation 1:
泮溪酒家 this place is HUGE. It is by a lake. Nice scenery.
Alight at metro station 中山八 within walking distance.

Dim Sum Recommendation 2:
莲香楼 old school dim sum vibes. The serving is HUGE.
Alight at metro station 黄沙 within walking distance.

For dim sum please avoid 点都德 it's very "chainy"...appearing everywhere.

Please avoid all the museums in Guangzhou.

Poorly maintained, toilets not so clean.

Exhibit placement not very aesthetic.

Overall building structure oldish.

Shanghai museums are first class, though.

For shopping,

The choices are far better than the best you can find in Singapore x100

There is interesting variety in shopping malls there. Many are HUGE.

While singapore malls are mostly cut-and-paste tenants like NTUC, Guardian, Haidilao, etc

The malls there cater to a very demanding crowd with big population and disposable income.

Poor very poor. Rich very rich. And many of the rich are in GZ.

Shopping Recommendation:

天环广场 Parc Central (I think co developed with HK):

This place is MEGA. Got outdoor, indoor, semi outdoor.

Different brands for different SES.

While you're there, try the pastries from Butterful & Creamorous, a Korean brand.

Indulge at least once in their creations:

Guangzhou. There is a Buddhist temple at 北京路， more than one thousand years history. I shopped till suddenly saw a Buddhist temple among the shops. So happy.

This was not part of the plan 1.

My Cathay Pacific flight was suppose to land at Chek Lap Kok then transit to Guangzhou.

The Cathay Pacific flight delayed for 2 hrs at T4. Wtf. Angry siol. And missed the transit flight to Guangzhou.

At Aero bridge at Chek Lap Kok, got Cathay Pac HK mm hold notices of connecting flight numbers then apologised saying these flights all closed riao. Cannot board alrdy
She then distributed meal vouchers then explained Cathay will pay for our land transport to our Mainland China destinations. Down there at Chek Lap Kok internally can take coach or ferry into Mainland China 1.
so ours the fasterest then was take coach to Guangzhou.
So we boarded this minivan (got faint cigarette smell), 30-min ride to Shenzhen border, chopped passport & scanned luggage, then boarded this 2-hr coach ride from Shenzhen to Dongguang then finally entered Guangzhou city centre. Wah, quite the adventure.

落马州/罗湖？

20+ years ago, transit at Guangzhou白云机场 to guilin. Till now no chance to really visit Guangzhou.
