so 9700k is better than 8700k for gaming? what is the price difference now? sgd $150?
The 9700k has shown to be even faster than the 9900k in some games. If you're talking gaming, yes the 9700k is definitely superior to the 8700k. Another 2 physical cores really shows that difference in most games. Hyperthreading is good but there are increased latencies in some games.
I've practically run most of the latest FPS games on my 9700k and 2080 Ti, and my FPS rarely drops below 100FPS on ultra settings at 3440x1440 @ 120Hz. Battlefield 5 is consistently above 100FPS on Ultra with DX12/RT OFF.
Also, the 9700k comes soldered and temps are good even at a 5Ghz overclock across all 8 cores. Under 70 degrees for gaming.
as an i9? definitely.9900k is in such a weird place like 7700k last time.
It should not even exist.

Go for i5 9600k lah
Bro wats yr cpu cooler? I was recommended i5 9600k for gaming. U think it's fine?
as an i9? definitely.
intel should have went 4/8 i3, 6/12 i5, 8/16 i7 and then call it a day![]()
As everything.
This time, Intel really put 14nm processor capability to the max.
As a result, 9900k run hot, very little headroom and require high end mainboard to operate, even though you dun plan to overclock it. Otherwise, there is high chance the CPU will throttle.
for gaming, 6c (i5) is the sweet spot bahFor ideal case, HT only give 25% boost performance so not worth the EXTRA $$

I'm using H150i Bro. 9600k is enough for gaming even with a high end GPU. If you're playing at 1080p, 9700k will be noticeably faster compared to 9600k. If you're playing at 1440p or greater, 9600k won't be very much slower than the 9700k due to GPU limitations.
Good point. currently seeing GN benchmarks. not much difference in fps in 1440p. Looks like i might be going for 9600k instead since i'm using 1440p monitor. save money get 2080? haha
