Hi..

Curious abt whether its possible to build a personal gaming rig that can beat or perform as well as the next gen consoles? Sticking with a strict budget of $750. Without OS or peripherals.

I've read and seen some stuff online saying that its possible but the parts they put together don't seem to be all available in Singapore.

I'm very interested to know if the tech experts here can come out with a system but with all parts available locally.

I admit I am no expert with computer stuff. I just like to play video games.

Thx for taking the time to read and please let me know your recommendations

I'd like to be able to play games like
-Watch Dogs
-Dead Rising 3
-Resident Evil Games
-Next Gen games likeThe Witcher games (unreleased Witcher 3 included) and The Division
-Mass Effect games
-All Blizzard games
-Various Fighting Games like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat
-Also possibly all released PS3 or Xbox titles that are available on PC

I'd like to keep a budget of $750 but wouldn't mind spending a little bit more (maybe $850) on the rig because I can make up the savings on Steam sales for games. Plus I usually would spend extra cash on the consoles anyway for like extra controllers and bigger storage anyway.

TBH, with upcoming games, if u wanna have better graphics than consoles, you would need at least 280x onwards, which costs $4xx and is alrdy half of your budget le...That is if u wanna play on Ultra in 1080p.

If u compromise on your gpu and get a lower gpu like 270 to fit ur budget, u r better off getting a console...

Assuming you buy most of your games via Steam sales, the amount you save compared to buying the PS4 version of the same games should warrant a higher budget for better GPU, like shadow84 said.

Since the games you listed are 99% available on PC, except those console exclusives, i think the question is whether you can wait for those games to be on sale on Steam or Amazon or some other online game distributors.

If you cannot, then just get a PS4 that is built and optimized for gaming.

If he play ahem games can get back the losses easily:s13: .
Consoles games prices are unbelievable expensive anyways.

270 is a decent priced middle end GPU not low-end just because you can't run ultra settings on newer games .

Is ultra setting really a must ?Then need to increase budget .

U can try playing in High and Ultra. There is a difference.. Besides, not only does quality matters, the fps matters as well. If u chiong ultra at 30fps, den might as well chiong high at 40-60fps, which isnt shiok...

My advice would be to wait a few months to save up and bump the budget to 900, that should get you a respectable PC.

Just curious, why not just buy a PS4 now and get a PC in a year? All the games including blizzard games will be on consoles too. Right now is not the best time to get a budgeted PC cause we just entered a new console generation. The Witcher 3 already will require a beefy gpu and cpu combo.

Blizzards games should not be on consoles. The way to play it is just feels weird and wrong in controls.

D3 is one of them. SC2 can never be on consoles, WoW also. HS may be.

Anyway console gaming nowadays are still not very close to PC gaming. The graphics are still very much 720p or very few is 1080p gaming. Frames are locked at a mere 30fps. Try playing Final Fantasy 13 and all the other series, you will know 30fps just dont cut it.

Going back to play Lightning return the other day, the graphics are way much poorer than anything you throw to a pc with a better gpu (of cause).

But nevertheless this 2 things are a guys poison and may not be able to live without it.

There are games on consoles which pc does not have. Vice versa.

TBH if you wanna have a PC that produces like a console gaming standards then you can just buy a Keveri APU build and play games at 720p with no problems. Such as BF3 can play at high settings with 720p resolution no issues without a GPU.

Gaming PC, to really enjoy it you will need a minimum of

ASRock H81M HDS + i5-4460 ~ $299
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz Value Ram ~ $100
WD Blue 1tb ~ $67
Plextor m6s 128gb ~ $104
Powercolor r9 280x 3gb Turbo Duo ~ $408
Xigmatek Tauro 600w 80+ Bronze Semi Modular PSU ~ $70
Xigmatek Recon ~ $45
LG DVD Drive ~ $21

Total ~ $1114. This is the minimum you might need to spend to enjoy true gaming experience such as ultra details.

A so call quite close to a "Console feel" but slightly better.

ASRock FM2A75 DGS + 6800k ~ $270
Gskills Ripjaws 2133mhz 2x4gb kit ~ $122
WD Blue 1tb ~ $67
Xigmatek Tauro 400w 80+ Bronze PSU ~ $60
Xigmatek Recon ~ $45
LG DVD Drive ~ $21

Total ~ $585

Thank you so much for the replies guys!

I do currently own an Xbox, PS3 and PS4. And I do have a gaming rig too with an i5 4590 and a 270X gpu. But my gaming is done mostly on my PC nowadays. My consoles barely get any action unless i play exclusive titles on them. I dont mind it cos I like playing video games and its a hobby i spend money into.

I'm planning to get a new rig with that 700-850 budget just so I can hopefully convince and switch my gf, my brother and some good friends to switch over to a PC for gaming. They seem to think that they need to buy a $1500 pc to have the same graphical and gaming experience on PS4/XB1. Which I know is nonsense.

It would have taken me a lot longer to figure this out on my own. Thanks for the help all.

I find it much easier to find opponents in fifa games on consoles than on pc. Probably cuz pc gamers prefer to play ahem versions.

Certain genres play better on pc than consoles. If you spend more time playing solo games, pc is better. Mod support is there too.

Of course there are poorly optimized ports like watch dogs, gta 4 and so on......
