1) Is 1080p resolution going to be outdated soon? I have seen many 1440p and 4k monitors replacing the market.

2) For gaming on 1080p resolutions only, what is the best graphics card to get? Performance and price

1) depends on screen size. 1080p on 24" is good, 27" maybe still ok.. Any bigger u should get 1440.

4k is if you have too much Money to spend .

1080P is the min. resolution to go for nowadays for casual / light gaming. It's not going to be outdated any time soon. You'll need a GTX1060 min. for this resolution 23" / 24" or 27".

Some gamers are already on 1440P which is mostly 27" and above, which you'll need GTX 1070 min. & lastly 4K gaming, which most GPU(s) still find it hard to maintain good frame rates. Only the most high end GPU can + enthusiasts / rich gamers can afford

Even a gtx 1080 not necessarily can hit 4k 60 fps all the time in all games @ max graphic settings.

Either game poorly optimized or simply not enough power. Even if you do sli and do have the power, the game itself not necessarily support sli. Hahahaha. Life is a pain.

just buy what you can afford. but no point buying 1800you will upgrade again end up buying twice.

qoo10 will have 60 off 300 soon. use it to buy a 4k montior for less than $400

I'm waiting to see if can save money a bit with the upcoming 1080Ti or not..

if the price & color quality is not far from 1080p then it's worth the extra pixel ...... look at google earth also more immersive

I think right now the sweet spot is 1440P. Either normal widescreen aspect ratio 21:9 1440P or the ultra widescreen 34" 1440P seen in recent introduction of monitors.. Predator X34 e.g

If go one level up to 4K, GPU requirement increases exponentially, racking up upgrade costs quickly so maybe still not worth it for some.

I personally do not think so. There are always new and better improvements in the market. 1440p is the new thing because 4k is not for everyone, and it's a really good display for gamers running single monitors at high refresh rates and larger sizes. 1080p is the common if you think about gaming monitors in terms of rarity.

As many have already mentioned, gtx1060 or rx480 will run your games on 1080p. I want to add a FOR NOW behind. If you find a nice cheap budget 1070 I would definitely advise going for that instead, but otherwise, those 2 cards are priced for the market that want to game immediately on 1080p.

At the end of your day, buy according to your budget.
