Sometimes, people just carry on trade without asking what commission is for? Last time b4 got online trading, brokers must do paper work & stuffs, but today with the technology available, nobody ask why still give commission to these brokers. They are not earning from useful services.

In fact, there is a serious flaw and impairment in this commission-based stock trading because whether stock value is positive or negative for the stock holders, a broker enjoy commission. A broker can encourage a negative and disastrous market and still reap commission from the stock meltdown. In principle, a online broker is handed a virtually risk-free business made in paradise with no duty, moral and culpability to give service.

Broker commission should be exterminated as it has become a meaningless give away of money.

u're paying comms for several reasons:

1. platform infrastructure, your ability to execute online is dependent on the broking house IT svcs.
2. settlement processes, there's much more going on behind the scenes when u make a buy or sell.

if you're saying broking commission shld be exterminated, then whts the whole pt of having brokers? nobody's gonna do your dirty paperwork and legwork for free, and you can trade by physically finding a counterparty to buy or sell ur shares to cos nobody's gonna run a platform for u to execute any trades from.

any 1 use cimb-gk trading platform?

i just set up the cimb account and still exploring...

i find that commission charges do not differ much ...range about 0.25% - 0.28% for online trading with a minimum charge of $20 - $30 averagely.

the ease of trading platform, assessibilty to research reports, charting s/w will be what I am looking for in a trading accounts...

Hi. You don't need to register with CDP first! The firms will do it for you as part of the application process.

However this will take up to 14 working days. So if you think about it, it can be a wait for up to 3 weeks.

Instead, you can head down to open a CDP account yourself. It will only take up to 3 - 5 working days. After that, opening an account with whichever brokerage firm you choose would take a much shorter time.

Cheers.

The cheapest brokerage fee that I know of for trading Singapore stocks is the cash-upfront account from DBS vickers. It is 0.18% min SGD18 compared to the rest around 0.275% min SGD25.

The disadvantage in this account is as the name suggests, cash-upfront. You have to put cash into the account first before you can trade. You cannot do contra-trade.

As of now, I have never met someone who has successfully profited consistently using contra-trading. On the other hand, I have heard many people losing their shirt contra-trading.

So, this disadvantage is nothing. It is very risky to make trades with money that you do not have in cash in the first place.

I am buying all my Singapore stocks using DBS Vickers cash-upfront account now.

From my experience the best Forex brokers are eToro and Easy-Forex. Besides in Easy-Forex you can trade USD/SGD currency pair.

Hi, nowadays, opening account is rather speedy. If no issues arising, the account can be opened in 1 wk time. But that's for UOBkayhian.
