Hi,

Can I clarify whether A maths background is still required to enter business courses in either SMU, NTU or NUS?

Is there still a compulsory maths test?

A poly student.

Thank you

There are no compulsory maths test in any of the 3, but NTU & SMU will require an interview.

As of 2013:
It is not required for admission, but still very essential for survival.

For NUS : Polytechnic Students with / without Add. Maths background will be asked to self-study the following course:

This is independent learning, there will be no tutors to turn to for help.

(All E-Lectures, assumed knowledge. I strongly advise you to cover all this materials before even starting term.)

For NTU : There will be a Maths programme for you to take, in actual classrooms and a tutor.

For SMU : There will be a basic foundation Calculus course, which is still not easy if you don't have the necessary background.

Thank you Nicholas and ChocolateCat for that.

Before that I was quite worried about unable to gain admission into University.

An extra module is fine now.

Thanks!

stats is really all about practice, practice and more practice. i seriously dun think u need to be very gd in maths to ace stats. once you practise enough, you can ace the module and not the module eat you up.:)

Yeah. I'm currently a year 1 bba student. Although, they did arrange all poly students to be in the same class, the competition is rather stiff. You would expect people to shoot you down more intensively as compared to your poly days. In general, most if not all of those from my sectional can speak and present really well. Yeah you definitely need add math, especially for managerial economics.
