Meanwhile Japan

They are a agricultural country like Austrialia. Bringing in foreign meat or plants can disrupt the eco system. Singapore is import everything so dun have that worry other than health and safety issues.

lol … want increase prices then implement immediately, let u buy cheaper Bak Kwa from JB need 3 years to implement?!
It’s to give time for local bak kwa chains to set up manufacturing facilities there. Drive up their prices on the pretext of increased demand. But in real, oligarchical practices at work. Then whatever “benefits” / arbitrage you anticipate from this shift will be null / minimal.

This won't help against food security which was initiated during covid19.
When countries were banning their exports.

They gave out some grants to encourage indoor farms to set up, but suddenly decided this security is not necessary, pulled the plug and let those farms die.

Meanwhile, they spent billions on military citing it's necessary for security. :o

Think there was a news story in Xin Ming about 2 months ago saying can bring in 15kg of meat products into Singapore. Don’t quote me hor. Just recalling from memory.
