From what I see because of the pressure brought to bear on you, you guys are issuing more infarctions than usual. I may be wrong of course,
Nevertheless I suggest the following approach.
Unless the post is highly obnoxious, defamatory or clearly racist, why not remove the content from the offending and instead issue a mild warning in it's place letting the user know it's not acceptable.

Eg say in post in a thread, someone says Kumar you go jump down better lah. Instead of infacrting the user, delete those words and tell the poster to stop. if he persists then by all means.

So I suggest this approach

1. Removal with in thread warning
2. More formal warning - 0 points
then only
3. Actual points issuance.

Of course you can still lock threads but just give post saying because of how it's going thread is locked.. Or if harsher - announce thread is improper and will deleted.

and the whole modding team come out and apology

else just get everyone banned and eventually shut down the forum, thats the best for everyone

I like to see more warnings, advice given than straight up points

Like yellow cards..sometimes the ref gives a warning, 2nd time, he indicates 2 and cut it out. Still persist then yellow. Of course more serious ones straight yellow like deliberate handball

So something like this. Because unless they reduce the 1 year duration, we might see more users p-banned for accumulating needless points.
Sometimes it just happens somebody baits you, you respond in kind which normal human reaction, you get infarcted.
Like 1 fella yesterday, I noticed every single reply eh made across a number of threads all were baiting type answers.

better you become moderator. you're more objective than subjective. though you have dispute with others, but i trust people who is always updated with court hearings have better judgement in rules.

last time, there was voting for junior moderator from the public and subsequently become a real moderator. they were also once popular like you but were subsequently hated so i hope you don't become one.

is that fella in this thread and you're not replying to?

I think moderators should be rotated. Maybe @Dr.Vijay and @Dragon don't want to have to train new mods and prefer to stick with what they have. In that case just switch the mods around from the other forums.
After all they all mods, so can give each a chance to moderate different forums.

In a way lah, but good right> You get a new set of mods but already with experience, plus they also more likely to be more receptive since they starting afresh so no accusations of harbouring grudges or targeting certain users as is sometimes levelled at the current crop moderating edmw.

The admin basically we got no say against their decision making. There has to be finality but of course if they truly abuse their positions then writing directly to SPH might be the recourse.
Not that there has been any instances which merits such a drastic step.

I think no one is disputing infractions for this kind of things.

What people don't understand is why every small thing also need to infract first. Common sense will tell you just delete the post or lock the thread if it's minor things. But here there is an addiction and obsession to infract for everything.

Maybe it's cause just deleting posts and locking threads make them feel like those saikang admin office boys. Giving points makes them feel powerful. Need to feel shiok shiok mah

as long as hwz decide to use mods base on volunteers they should always rotate them. bring in fresh bloods
this is to prevent build up of hates, and to prevent complacent.

some of the following already occurs to hilarious and disastrous results
i am free and volunteer, my action does not represent sph lalala
you want complain to sph go ahead, boss here tio not my daiji lalala

and many more examples

some of them pcw less after becoming mods, to the extend its been months since last login according to their own search system
so why keep them around if they not representing the community anymore?

the alternative is to hire and employ them under sph if they really want to stick to the new standard.

eitherway, soon everyone will be banned and end of the last remaining active forum in the world

You got to be kidding.

TS has been calling me a boy in multiple of threads.

I don't take offence though.

This is not a characteristic of a Mod.

It's fine for using it in chat as user but not when handling dispute as mod. impossible to scrutinize how mods use their words even in their personal space. if you insist pure white, no one is. at least, he deals work and personal separately and objectively from what i observed in comparison to other infract trigger mod. you should learn from this if you're affected by 'boy'.

@MikeDirnt78 just trying to elimate options for potential mods so that if a new mod is chosen, he is at the front of the queue

I'm just saying only. I don't take offence. Others may.

A good Mod will not call names. This is not a matter of opinion.

Cheers. :p

Perhaps it is time to re-look at refreshing the entire team.
