Hi, wondering how many of you have travelled without bringing a camera along as we nowadays depends pretty much on our handphone and tablets/ipad which comes with good cameras.
I used to carry my DSLR, iphone and ipad last time. Am visiting Beijing coming december and need to carry winter clothings. I'm thinking to make a trip without bringing any cameras along this time round.
I understand that my iphone power consupmtion will definitely increase as I will take lots of picture then.
What brand/type of power bank is good for iphone?
Thanks.

I find it's easier to travel without a Camera and the phone camera nowadays have powerful cameras.

But if you have a backpack or sorts, then bringing a camera would free up your phone battery.

It really depends on what you want. The photos taken with a good camera with good lenses will be nicer (assuming you know what you're doing) because the sensor is better, you can adjust your ISO / Aperture / Shuttle Speed, play with focus / bokeh, etc. If you take night / low light photography, you can play a lot more with a DSLR. then you weigh the pros and cons depending on what sort of photographer you are, where you are going, etc. If you're asking the question, chances are you can do without the camera (as opposed to people who will go on photography trips).

One thing is for China, be aware that they will ask to check your power bank. If it exceeds a certain capacity (I don't know what), they don't allow you to carry onboard the plane. So far it's the only country that I have been where they check the powerbank.

20,000mah is the max for powerbanks. Please make sure the capacity is clearly stated on the device or else they will just chuck it into the bin.

Just Google xiaomi powerbanks. Many different capacities available, at different prices and weight, of course.

Currently their largest available capacity is 20,000mah. SG sells at $45.90 or something at their flagship store over at Suntec. If you order from Taobao, it's actually around $25 only.

There are counterfeit xiaomi powerbanks around. I'd suggest either you buy it direct from their official online store at tmall in Taobao site, or you buy from the physical shop at suntec (or the current pop up store at Central).

Yes they comply with most airline regulations. You can go check their product page for specifications, and then check with the various airlines/airports. CAAS allow spare lithium ion batteries in carry-on bag if they are less than 100Wh. Xiaomi 20,000mah powerbank is rated at 72Wh.

China airports on the other hand, require the capacity and rating to be clearly stated on the powerbanks. I'm not sure what's their rating regulation, you'll need to check their website for it.

In general, to avoid seeing your powerbanks bring confiscated or thrown into the rubbish bin, just check with the various airline or airports that you will be flying back from, to make sure your powerbank goes through their customs checks.
