acca not getting recognised? ??

Ya. not sure why they place so much emphasis on the duration to complete acca as it does not measure accurately on one capability...but somehow, they are included in one of the factors when considering the candidates.. haha my CEO is one of them haha.

quite stupid to judge like that. some took longer cos they are taking part and plus working taking half of our time alrdy so we can study during wkends

Those studied part time took longer time to complete it. If enquiring e duration to.compete it, it doesn't justify.
What is e minimum months to stay in a job before switching

ya lo.. don't justify..anyway , it's just a matter of perception ba..

No definition of minimum months ba.. you can switch anytime u want..the disadvantage is that it would appear to others that you might not learn much out of the job.. maybe after a year or so would be better. (Can get bonus also)

at times, employer will look at your employment record in your resume, to guess if you are a job hopper or not.. but of course, u can smoke your way out in e interview la

I am also a Diploma in Accountancy graduate. I have many friends who are following in your footsteps of pursuing ACCA and aiming for CPA Singapore. Your current position is the end-game that many of my peers are planning for.

Hence, I read your situation with utmost concern.

I don't agree that you took the wrong path - only a restrictive one. May I ask - did you seek career guidance during your Polytechnic days ? I hope you didn't blindly follow the herd of taking ACCA, just cause that is what most Dip in Acc students do.

By 'restrictive', I mean ACCA is only of value in the Accounting Industry. Other firms and positions that you apply for, ACCA may not be recognized. You will be treated as a Diploma graduate only.

Only in accounting firms, ACCA will put you at the same level as those accounting degree holders; and CPA SG matters.

DeadPeople is also right. 3 to 5 years of working experience after graduation, that experience will matter more than the paper qualification.

However, am I right to guess your experience is also only limited to accounting ? With only accounting education qualifications + work experience, that may be slight problem.

But anyway, why are you leaving the accounting industry to begin with ? Want to explore other firms / career paths ?

Haha.... after poly, my only thoughts was I dun wan to start working... hence I followed the crowd to take acca full time, though some of peers took it part time.

I have more 5 yrs working experience. N felt that a local graduate n has 2.5 external audit experience is in e post as me (same title as well) hence made feel that acca not valuable.

I m in internal audit line, not working as accountant. Not changing line... change of company coz dun like e things r worked
