Hi guys. I have posted before about doing music as a career. I might actually want to do accounting as a backup since I don't totally hate it. But I will only do tax in the accounting industry as I like tax and cannot stand audit.

I'm a graduating student from NP accountancy, gpa 3.1
I got low gpa was due to my laziness. I totally skipped all lectures and hardly attended tutorials. I basically had to teach myself and usually only did it 1 day before the exam, hence the lousy grades :(

I'm just wondering what route should I take? What would be the best for me?
My goal in life is definitely to get out of Singapore. I wanna migrate to Canada. It would be good if I can enter big 4 in Canada to do tax. Then music would become my hobby.

Okay. So I get F1-F6 exemptions from ACCA. Meaning I only need to do 8 papers. ACCA is considered recognized globally right?

2nd option would be to do SIM RMIT Acc. Then try to work in Singapore to gain experience before trying to apply for Canada PR ( or do post grad???)

3rd option would be going to Memorial UNI of NewFoundland. Because my gpa can't get to good unis in Canada.. And MUN is considered cheap.. Not sure if it's a good idea.

If my info is considered outdated, please let me know. Look forward to hear advices from yall. Thank you!

If you can afford it, this is the best option for your goal.

I suggest you skip ACCA and focus in getting into a reputable ranked university.
Right now Canada is going through a transitioning period for their accountancy profession, similar to Singapore.
- Although CGA Canada have MRA with ACCA, but it only last until 2016, there is no confirmation that it will be renewed.
- CGA Canada | Membership Benefits | ACCA Members | ACCA Global | ACCA Global
- To make things worse, CGA Canada and other Canada bodies are gradually consolidating under CPA Canada.
- Chartered Professional Accountant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- There have been problems between CPA Canada and ACCA,
- ACCA

Regardless whether you are taking a canadian degree or australian degree, take reference from global ranking charts, THE and QS,
- World University Rankings 2014-2015 - Times Higher Education
- QS World University Rankings® 2014/15 | Top Universities
- Getting a ranked degree will definitely strengthen your speed in immigrating to Canada.
- Which ever university degree you decide, whether it is RMIT, MUN or others, I suggest you contact CPA Canada to get confirmation on whether they recognise the degree.
