Right now, what some of forumer said here are refering to ACCA- ICPAS plus route members, who are still open to become CPA in sg by 2016. However, condition could be u must complete ACCA before 2016 June and complete the relevant 3 yrs experience (2yr post and 1 yr pre exp?) + one week course. Or else will have to take QP.

what does the 2 yrs post and 1 yr pre means? If I start working now to 2016,is my 3 yrs counted? thanks.

Taken from ICPAS web

For the criteria of 3 years post qualification or 5 years pre-post qualification relevant working experience, does it have to be local experience? Your working experience need not be obtained from a local-based company. Overseas relevant working experience will also be considered. In addition, only full-time relevant work experience will be accepted.

THus i think must be 3yrs of acct experience must be post meaning after u become associate member of icpas member.. or 5 years pre-post working experience.

Singapore Qualification Programme (SQP)-ICPAS Membership

1) Is there any change in the ICPAS membership admission requirements with the introduction of the SQP?
The Government has announced a plan to develop the SQP, which will apply to all Associate members from a certain date in the future after SQP is launched. The date is yet to be announced. Until the effective date is known, the current requirements that is, (i) approved entry qualifications; (ii) attainment of a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience and (iii) successful completion of a 5-day pre-admission course, prevail.
In future, members of overseas professional accountancy bodies who wish to become ICPAS members, when the SQP is implemented, will be admitted on the basis of mutually agreed recognition arrangements between ICPAS and an overseas professional accountancy body, which may include exemption from part or whole of the SQP.

2) Would existing members holding the CPA Singapore designation be affected by the launch of the SQP?
We understand that the Pro-Tem SAC is considering one Singapore-branded professional accountancy designation with the introduction of the SQP. Under such a scenario, existing CPA Singapore holders will no longer be able to retain the CPA Singapore designation and will be grandfathered over to the new Chartered Accountant of Singapore or C.A.(Singapore) designation, without having to take the SQP examinations but will have option to do so if they wish to. The detailed transitional arrangements are currently being deliberated by the Pro-Tem SAC. More information will be released in due course.

3) Would ICPAS Associate members be affected by the launch of the SQP?
Associate members will be given a grace period to obtain the relevant experience and pass the PAC (Pre-Admission Course) under the current regime to obtain the CPA Singapore designation. Associate members of ICPAS will be grandfathered over to the new C.A.(Singapore) designation only after being admitted as full members.

For all who is curious abt working experience, please see this:
Possess at least 3 years post qualification or 5 years pre-post qualification relevant working experience;

Example: Joined acca in 2011 Dec under ICPAS plus member.
Graduate in 2014 Dec as ACCA member and apply for acca associate member.
Working start from 2009 to 2014. Five years of pre experience. Thus by 2015 I shd have one post year qualification. Thus i am eligible for 5yr pre and post qualification.
This is based on what I understand.

Hi,

Anyone had taken the OBU degree mentoring from LSBF?

If you have, mind sharing which mentor is good?

how about completed ACCA, but have not yet achieved required years of experience. can sign up for CPA Sg? Im on the Icpas plus route.
bro zimy88, u completed yr ACCA right? Just go apply for ICPAS associate already...after that take Pre admission course upon granted to associate status. And then since u completed yr ACCA, u need to gain 3 yr POST experience after u graduate. If 2013 u start working, by 2016 u got CPA Singapore just nice 3 yrs.

aCCA will be less recognise in sg perhaps becos any degree holders from any disipline will just go to QP programme directly to become CA in singapore. Less degree holders or ppl will sign up for ACCA as it is no longer direct route to CPA in Singapore. Other than that, ACCA is still recognisable internationally.

Right now, what some of forumer said here are refering to ACCA- ICPAS plus route members, who are still open to become CPA in sg by 2016. For ACCA direct route member, you will not be able to take QP yet until mutual agreement is settled officially. Meanwhile, you are not eligible to join QP.

Where do you read the info about the 2016 deadline?

As I'm still a acca student now, it's impossible for me to hit the 2016 deadline :(

Oh I see. Hmm I have 2 years plus working experience. Seems like it's worthless now lol.

It's not entirely wasted. You can qualify for the 5 years pre-post woking experience meaning u just need another 2year plus more post experience to become CPA.

The 2016 deadline is given by one of the forumer here, not me. From what I knw, ACCA exam must be completed by dec 2016. But i not sure what is the exact deadline for us to register as Associate ICPAS to become CPA. (include working experience + other admission criterias)

If lets say, all must be done by Dec 2016. Then I think is quite impossible for those without relevant working experience to qualify as CPA even though they may have complete ACCA before 2016.:(

Let's wait for June 2013 for the official transition requirement for ICPAS plus member.

I hope they don't scam the membership fees I've paid to icpas thus far, which amounted to almost $500.

The only reason why I and most people join the icpas membership is for the route in becoming CPA... If they remove it all of a sudden, it is a total scam....

ya but if u want to become CA....u need to become CPA and then ICPAS will grandfather this designation to CA in QP. Thats what most likely will affected members become.
