Question is did you enrolled before July 2013 to be under the grandfather scheme in the first place?

Your 2 years working experience, is it accounting, finance, tax, audit or in similar context? If yes, this will be counted as working experience towards your PER in which you can get your company chartered accountant to help you sign off.

This grandfather scheme u referring to is it ICPAS plus route?

you need to pass ALL your papers to start counting your 3 year working exp

or

5 year working exp with at least 1 year working exp after passing all your papers

Ya. Is it complete 3 yrs working exp to be CA SG by 2018??

It can be completed by 5 year working exp with at least 1 year working exp after passing all your papers???

I'm about to register for P2. However, I'm having the dilemma of choosing between INT variant or SGP variant.

As I am going to self-study using Kaplan textbooks, I will be studying INT variant. Therefore, exam-wise, it should be more advantageous if I take INT variant.

However, I am not too sure about future prospects wise or whether I am required to take SGP variant for P2 to qualify for CA etc. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

For SG CA, u have to choose singapore variant for whichever module that has singapore variant. If not, it will be international variant.

I see. Thanks for your info! So meaning we need to print out the certificate by ourselves? :X

Sadly yes. In fact, back in 2012 when they decide to cancel official ACCA graduation, there were quite a few complains, especially from those who looked forward to their first and possibly only convocation :(

Anyone know if there is any syllabus/content change for papers F6,F7,F9 comparing Dec 2014 and Jun 2015 sitting?

Hoping to self study these papers and if the content is same, can buy used textbook from those who have passed in Dec 2014.

Thanks!

I can confirm what lili926 said is true, I have also attended both Tom's and Sami's lectures. Both are good lecturers, it depends on your style of learning. Personally, I learn better with Tom's style of teaching.
But then again, one man's meat is another man's poison.

Yes I pass P2 exam 57% first attempt w Tom today. I attended Sami class before for Dec 2013 but i did not sign on for exam due to taking P1&3 exam and i cant cope. So i sign on Tom P2 class for Dec2014 sitting in FTMS SG.

Tom is encouraging lecturer. I have great fear for P2 since i started acca as i find it very technical n consolidation is difficult. Tom help us understand the FRS by simplfying them and go slowly step by step in calculation/conso.

He covers extensively in theory writting method which is very important as p2 exam is mostly writting (Dec14 sitting secB most ques has little numbers). He taught many simple useful techniques to answer theory question to grab marks and practice w us on thory ques very frequently.

I was exempted from f1-9 acca paper due to my earlier studies 5 years ago. So when i enter p2 exam i was totally clueles/forgotten bout frs. Tom introduced a book he wrote 'students guide book' (suitable for those already forgotten their basics). very important to set my foundation for the rest of half a year. This book covers p2 complex consolidation in very very simple step by step techniques. I read every single of page of the book n it help me understand his lectures easily in rest of the course as he adopts the same method in class for calculations. I do not know how to say the book is really helping..

Sami class is also good, jus that it's very fast paced in calculation so need solid foundation, his class is heavy in calculation, seldom practice theory questions, do not teach writing methods how to grab marks for theory. Hope my sharing help to shade light on Tom's teaching methods as i myself took long time to decide which lecturer to follow..

Anyone attending the evening preview at M2 Academy next tuesday, 17 feb?
they just launched a partnership with BPP in singapore for ACCA online. i called them up ystd and was told it is 100% online and taught by UK lectures via recorded sessions plus LIVE classes. not very sure about the combination yet.

i hate to rush to classes after work so this may work out and im planning to take my P papers with them but at the same im sceptical and conservative about it even though the passing rate is very high and they have some free retake if dont pass policy. something new.

wanna go tgt?

I beg to differ.
Sami's method of performing consolidation is the fastest especially in a time constraint paper like P2 where Q1 consol is 50m alone! Also many questions are practiced in class for section B . (Note : you have to read also yourself abit as lesson is limited by lecture)
From what I know my fellow classmate attended a free preview by Tom and she left half way during the break after comparing the difference in explanation and technique.
There were hardly any students anyway even in the free preview session to begin with!
My friend was the only person there (lol).
After half way imagine no one was in class for Tom's free preview!
Worst part is he still got the cheek to bad mouth other lecturers from other schools such as Sami!
If you been to Sami class you know - 100% knowledge only!
No nonsense and full delivery till the end of lesson.
If you want to complete ACCA you have to be in the right class.
Learning right exam techniques , no use using a method where you need 1.5hr/2hrs to complete a question!
All the best!

Hi ANGELONE :D I have been watching this thread to get some tips while studying and I've been to saa, lsbf and ftms... I have also attended tom clendon's free class at ftms and I was wondering where did you get all those "facts" about students leaving his class halfway and even badmouthing Sami? I DEFINITELY confirm you are lying! Me and my friends have signed up after his free class as he is so good to be true that even after class he extends his effort to do one on one coaching just to help us pass the exam!

I saw ALL your posts and you are trying your best to PUT LSBF ahead above every other schools and promote all their stuffs its so obvious in your posts that you joined this forum to put down other schools and make comments about how LSBF is... Yes I know some tutors there are good, same as kaplan, ftms and saa.... But I hope you should know that is a forum for all ACCA students to share good knowledge and tips and not bring other things down just to promote your lsbf... Way overboard man!

I know samy is a good lecturer but after failing a few times I tried Tom. The difference for me is that Samy focus nearly all on calculation but when it comes to the written parts he skim over a bit.

Tom teaches calculation and the written parts lah. after failing twice with Samy I thought Tom approach worked for me and I finally pass in Dec.

Both are good but I thought Tom cover more areas which samy wasn't able to do so when I studied for his class.
