acca students , how to see the list of acceptable calculator models?

There is no list.. as long as the calculator cannot store text.. and dun emit sound.. can use already...

Its stated in the rules and regulation for the examination. U dun really need fanciful calculator.. also.. those scientific u use in school are good enough...

some accountants will find it hard to adapt to industrial sites and prefer to work in town/comfortable environment.

the account assistant/ accountant in my Co turnover rate is about 6-9mths. when i asked them why quit so fast, they told me they dont like the environment as the building is old, technology is outdated, etc

Not to mention, stock taking can be quite siong for the mostly female accountants.

still need scientific calculator ah?

what function normally u all use?

simple ones?

It will be better if you have those scentific calculator that allows you to input your formula or calculation first then you press = or compute.

More complex functions required will be sqrt, power. If you doing F2, can use statistic function, regression analysis to check your computation. But that will not be necessary.

So except for Sqrt and Power functions is only for finance papers and maybe accounting papers where u need to calculate PV. Other than that... really no need for financial calculators even.

I just enrolled for ACCA july at SAA for F1,F2,F3 and F7

After my first F7 class, i spoke to my lecturer and he told me that F3 is the pre-requisite for F7 and that i may not be able to take these 2 in the same sitting.

Is this true? please advise, thanks

You may write to ACCA (either directly or thru Singapore Office) to clarify.

But if you wanna take. In fact, you can take F3 by CBE which u get to know the results immediately and pass it before Sep. Then you take F7 in Dec Exam. But if you have no accounting background. More advisable to take F7 after you pass your F3. Maybe you should take F4 instead if you want to attempt four papers.

You can take F3 and F7 con-currently. No issue.

However, I failed F7 cos my foundation is pretty weak, so I had a hard time struggling.

You have to be more proactive since you want to learn F3 and F7 together. You can call up SAA or FTMS to check for their CBE schedule. There might be more centres offering CBE, for that, you got to find out yourself.

ya, it's correct, F3 is pre-equisite for F7 and F2 is pre-requisite for F5, you're better finish F1,2,3 before attend F5,7 or 9. If u want to take 4 subjects, you can choose F1,2,3 and F4 or F6

It is theoretically possible but practically, if you don't understand Dr/Cr, passing will be an issue for F7. Better to withdraw from the F7 course and sign up for others such as F4 that others have advised.

If you take CBE for F3, you need time to study and focus on F3. If your lecturer is JK, good luck on trying to balance your time to study F1,2,3.

Not advisable to eat desserts at the same time as a meal...

Thanks for the replies.

I have enquired this issue with icpas and they have assured me that there is no problem for me taking f1,f2,f3 and f7 in the same sitting be it my f1-3 cbe or paper based.

I dun thk u are allowed to take both in the same sitting. Acca has this rule that u cannot take a higher level paper together with its prerequisite. Why are u asking icpas? U shd be asking acca.

Besides, no offence, i doubt anyone can pass f7 if they hv never done acctng before. Unless u only take this 2 papers and practice dilligently for 3-4 hours a day every single day for 6 months. Not to mention tat u wun understand a thing even if u go to class for f7.
