Paul owen merison has already went back to UK. Go to SAA's Chee Hay Kheong if you really want to pass your P7. He's very good in F8 and P7. No regrets!

Hi all,

Plan to take F5 and F7. Any recommend lecturer?
How about Nicholas and Mary Tan in Kaplan? Or any other better option?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure for P4. You can try sami but need to read up on the theory and past year question. Sami will talk abit on the concept and then he will go do the exams questions. Esther Thng from Kaplan also not bad. She teaches CFA compared to Sami who doesn't. I took her revision class. She is very organised. Her explanation is easy to understand and her notes are not bad actually. Sami don't write P4 notes. His P4 notes are actually taken from the LSBF school in UK. I think you should go for Esther Thng main class in kaplan and then go for Sami class in LSBF for revision.

Take Sami for F7. He will drill you on the calculations. For the theory part, it's on your own already but the marks weightage for theory is not as much as the calculations.

F7 you can consider Sami as it is very calculative base paper. Nicholas is very knowledgeable but abit of impatient and his pace is fast. He expect student to be up to his teaching pace once a topic is covered, i.e the student is expected to be able to apply the concept in the following class.

Sami teaches F5 too but I did my F5 with Mary. She is ok and her notes are very colorful (she likes to highlight in different colors) and she explains the concept well too. All in all, Sami and Mary are ok for F5. Sami is like (90% calculation, 10% theory and Mary is like 70% calculation and 30% theory ba)

Btw, nobody taken P4 before? No recommendation? How is Esther Thng from Kaplan? :s12::s12::s12:

Sami don't refer to the P4 text even though the text was given. The text here refer to the printed notes, not the textbook. They don't give P4 textbook. He will write down the concepts in his handwritten notes. Then he will start doing the past exam questions. Then he said if you want to know more, then you read the text... I like Esther Thng is because of her organisation. When she go through the exam questions, she will underline the important phrases or figures to be used for calculations because P4 got lots of figures to use in a question.

I see. I know Sami style since I was with him from F7, F9 and P2. Just have not attended Esther class and there are very few feedback about her class since majority would always recommend Sami.

I find Sami good or in fact one for the best for the F paper but have reserve on him when it comes to P. No doubt he is very strong in calculation but P paper have very high weightage on theory and that's where a pass and fail matters. :s12::s12::s12:

I did enrol P4 for Esther Thng. I must say Sami and Esther are totally different in term of teaching style. yes Sami focus heavily for calculation and always expect us to read theory answer. as for esther, i do feel her teaching style is suited my pace. Yup, she will go through calculation and theory hence she wont be going through lot of questions as Sami.

P4 is physically demanding paper in term of calculation and theory analysis. Whether the lecturer is good in calculation or theory, overall, you have to put in effort in question practicing. I strongly recommend BPP revision kit for P4, however this P4 examiner set the question full of surprise every sitting.

Yes, i know i will fail, still thinking of switching to P6 this july siting :(

Thanks for the insight. P4 and P7 have the lowest passing rate so I can guess as much that the examiner is full of surprises. Good luck to you P4, you may have pass so don't worry. :s12:

So P2 I should try Roy's class?

Hi,

I left F5 P1 P2 and P3. I just completed F7 and F8 togther on June'2013 exams.

I thought of taking F5 and P 2 together becoz F7 is still fresh for P2. and also take F5 now would be useful for next sem's P3. However LSBF Sammi lesson is on Thurs and F5 Roy's lesson is on Wed, so quite tiring. But P2 Roy lesson is on Tuesday.

Is there any other combination recommended or should i select P2 as roy ?

As F5 and P2 i cant take together because is Thurs and Wed so will be tiring.

P2 Roy's class is on Tueday , so is it ok? Else is there other lecturer's for recommendation?

F5 Mary's class also on Thursday. Anyway, roy and mary.. any difference in teaching style?
