I see. If can't get into Big 4 then I don't know where else to apply man. Like dreams and hope are dashed.

There are so many accounting firms u can apply too, and most other company need at least a accountant.

Me too, but That's what my lecturer said.... nope, I go straight to ACCA after my secondary school, so I'm now doing f7, f8 and f9, still waiting results for f4 to f6

I know of non-prize winners in Big 4 leh...your lecturer scare u for what..he/she shd motivate u to complete ACCA and be positive instead!

Anyway obviously if prizewinner then of course Big-4 will highly likely would like to have high calibre employee

What are the entries to be recorded for the books?

for your red line, it is the right element, an expense (finance charges). naming wise it is a interco int expense and not a bank loan with respect to purple ltd

I know it sounds weird. But that is the only expense name that has been created. Anyway since its the right element-hitting the P & L. THen i think its ok.

ANyone can enlighten me, why must Cr Miscellaneous income for the interest part?

Sorry to ask. What if this interest for bank loan hasnt been paid yet and is accrued. Are the entries still right??

if interest occured in this year but not yet paid, i think it would be
CR accrued interest (liability)
DR interest expense
i think your entry is right

when paid,
Dr accrued int (due to green)
Cr bank.

Hey KristyQ, I have gone for an interview at EY when I was sitting for P1 and P2.

Basically, they have their own internal recruiter, probably from the HR department who will call you and screen you first. She called me twice, once to ascertain your resume and ask you on your progress on your papers, and then the second time to schedule a date for your interview.

The interview process is not exactly long, upon arrival, you'll be asked to write an essay, they might have changed the question that the essay is based upon, mainly to find out what's important to you. It might also be different depending on the role you're applying for. I was applying for an audit position, so I don't know if that will differ if say you're applying for a tax role.

The person who's gonna interview you will have a set of criteria that he will "assess" you with, a basic checklist of your performance during the interview and whatnot. Unfortunately, I'm unable to give you a detailed drill down on what specific questions the assessment would be based upon cos I didn't get to that stage. The person interviewing me was frank enough to tell me that as the role was more suited for a fresh level one or level two, as there was an incentive of claiming your exam and school fees when you're in that role, and not that much for someone already taking level three, he was asking me if I really wanted to continue with the interview and even told me the pay was only $1,800.

I was already getting $2,800 after I passed level two in my equities research job and the $1,000 pay differential was really too much to swallow so I told him I'm not gonna continue with the interview on the spot and chatted with him like a friend throughout. He advised me that I should go all out to apply to all the big 4s after I've completed my ACCA instead of just waiting for EY.

But I've just completed my ACCA last august and have been sending the big 4s my resume non stop, and I have not gotten a single call back or an email. My friend's dad, who works in KPMG told her that they give priority to local uni grads and I am seriously beginning to feel quite depressed that ACCA graduates are not getting on HR's radar. I could be wrong, but no calls are depressing. Anyway, sorry for the digression. I hope the above information helped and if you already got a call scheduled for the interview, best of luck!

Agreed. It does seem somewhat unfair that the CA status is given nilly willy. But oh well, it's funny that even the ones in part of the big 8, like BDO, RSM chio lim are not even bothering to reply.

I mean, I've even tried Helmi and Talib cos I like how they endorse diversity but man, no calls as well. This is getting tough mate. Too tough.

Honestly the only way for ACCA graduates to get into big4 is either enter before u graduate as acca affiliate and take diploma pay or be a prizewinner.

Or else, it is quite impossible to get into their firms.
