Hi all, sorry i am not from ACCA.

I am from unisim taking an account module.

I have a few (consider simple) questions regarding one of my assignments. I need to the journal entry. These below transactions were not account for, need to include them.

Question 1.

Misplaced suppliers’ invoices for November delivery of goods amounting to $6,500 were found.

Answer:
Dr Supplier Expenses 6,500
Cr A/C Payable 6,500

OR

Dr Inventory 6,500
Cr A/C Payable 6,500

Do I need to do anything with the inventory.

Question 2.

Total sales for the month of December amounted to $68,000 of which $12,000 was collected in advance from a customer, $7800 was on credit and the rest were daily cash sales.

Answer:

Dr Sales Revenue 12,000
Cr Unearned Revenue 12,000

OR need to include the amount of $68000 - 12000 collected in advanced?

Pls advice.

Hi,

For the first question, if the supplier is the one that supplier your inventory goods for sale. Then the answer will be SFP: DR Inventory 6,500, CR payable 6,500. IS: Dr Purchases 6,500, CR Closing stock 6,500. If the supplier is just ordinary supplier like purchase of office stationary, then just Dr. Expenses 6,500 and CR. Payable 6,500.

For the second question, as the 12000 is collected in advance, you can not recognise as sales. You need to DR. Sales 12,000 and CR. Advance payment from customer/Deposits collected in advance 12,000.

For the relatively low cost of doing the project, there is no harm doing. I paid $200 to my mentor, and the submission fees for the project is about £180.

Don't think govt sector recognise it though. In terms of usefulness from what I've observed so far, not much. But it wouldn't hurt getting....except for the cost of about $600 and time spent doing it....

I'm currently self-studying for p2 and p3 for June 14 exams.

I've already passed p1 through self-study. I must say p1 is relatively easy, and to me, even easier than F7.

Self-study is certainly possible for all papers if you put in the time to practice. With a good textbook and answer sheets, almost everything are self-explanatory. But of course, you must have the discipline to put in the time.....which I admit I sometimes do not have

Thanks for the info.Do you have any reference book/notes for P1.If not can you suggest which books shoud i use for P1 as well as P3.Will go through the material and decide which one i should take.And also as far as i can see there is not much connection between P3 and P1 so giving P3 first and P1 later will not make much of difference.
