anyone attended both the lecture and revision session for F6 by Yvonne Goh in LSBF? Is the revision session very helpful?

cant decide whether to sign up for the revision session or not as the schedule for part-time class is rather hectic

My friend took ACCA and now taking P1 and OBU degree. Her background is: she came from degree of science in a local school, working as corporate secretary / trust role and currently salary is no longer starting base.

How can she change job into finance role and leverage on ACCA without pay cut?

If you are talking about finance role perhaps possible. But if you are talking about accounts specific role, she has zero relevant experience, so she has to start from the bottom. Her work experience has higher chance of getting her accepted by big 4 which has a starting pay of $2,800. I am not sure if big 4 pays additional for work experience. For companies based, I doubt she will be placed into any managing role for accounts if she has no experience, but she may negotiate higher due to her working experience.

BPP ACCA Online

Anyone tried BPP Online learning before?
I'm considering it because i dont really fancy rushing to evening classes after work and definitely not garang enough to go 100% self-study.

The website says that there is some lifetime pass assurance scheme so does it mean retaking papers is free?

Hi all!

Anyone here completed their OBU degree? I mean, can we even call it a degree? lol

Is it worth the $$ to get it done? From what I've read from ACCA website, only 3 meetings with the Approved Mentor and that's it? And apparently it's compulsory to have a mentor which means signing up with one will cost at least $700.

Does having this degree give us an edge with the big 4/future employers in addition to our ACCA cert? hmmm..

Well after putting so much hard work in ACCA and along the journey you are getting an extra certificate - then grab it and go along. No harm .. Of course the ultimate goal is to complete ACCA! The degree is jus a extra value added when you are filling in application form - you can input that you have a degree.
In future you do masters at least you will have an idea how a thesis looks like!
Don't expect your masters lecturers to teach u how to write a thesis/report . That's when OBU experience comes in most useful!
Also at least you will know how to conduct a research when you are working . If not just professional knowledge without research skills.

This is what my OBU mentor told me.
Hope it helps especially when ACCA has come up with Masters program - the OBU experience which cost only $700/800 is definately worth the learning experience!

I wonder if the industry will discount the value of our ACCA certs ever since they started implementing MCQ in F4-F9 papers so that it is easier for students to score. At least the lucky ones who tikam tikam also can get marks.

Sigh... What about those who actually had to write essay answers before the syllabus change? Feel so "cheated".

Passing mark is 50 for ACCA papers. If you have not studied at all, and you are going there just to guess the answers, you probably would still fail. If you have studied I sufficiently and are those borderline type, then probably some will get the pass, some will get the fail marks.

Writing is actually easier in a sense that you can get "sub-marks" even if your answer is not entirely correct, MCQ means either right or wrong.
ACCA standard is still there otherwise UOL won't even have thought of partnering with ACCA for a potential masters degree for those who have completed ACCA.
