I'd just like to ask you people about something, it may interest y'all too?

I found a torrent containing very detailed material , including past questions/ lecture notes etc for ACCA from F1-F9. however the material inside is dated back from 2009-2011.

What i would like to ask is,

1) whether the content is still relevant or not. What do you think?

2)As i am already doing a full time program, can i just register as an ACCA member and go for the examinations without having to go through SAA/ Kaplan? I plan to rely solely on the notes as i don't really plan to be the top scorer or anything, its just to bolster credentials.

I would love to show you the link for the torrent, but am paranoid of uh copyright issues. You can just search ACCA on kik@ss.

Ans:
(1) won't recommend to use text dated so long ago because syllabus have been changing quite frequently for the last couple of years.

though some modules do not change in basic concepts, but the way lecturers write their notes will change accordingly with the amendments done to exams.

(2) more like register as a ACCA student. you will only become member once you complete all the papers and PER.
if you are doing accounting full time now, it may be ok to self study for the level 1 -2 modules. it would be better to attend classes for level3 as it is a whole new era from level 1-2.

Ultimately, you are not required to attend classes under SAA/LSBF/Kaplan or other schools in order to sit for the papers.
You can choose to self study them, but at own risk...

But to consider: if you are already doing accounting program now(assuming at least SIM-UOL Accounting), you can opt for exemptions and spare yourself the torture to go through all the exams again.

Hihi, would like to gather some objective views about Roy and Sami on their lecturing styles (ie one time pass under the lecturer not counted cos i think it would be dependent on the students efforts as well) Is it true that Sami is more focused on questions while Roy focuses more on concepts?

Both of them spent significant time on discussing how to tackle the past year questions. The difference between two is that Sami is more quantitative oriented while Roy is qualitative oriented as far as it is concerned in terms of lecturing. But then I never took F7 or P2 class under Roy. Not easy to compare on that basis.

Best of luck to all ACCA students. Being a proud ACCA graduate who is also pass ALL my papers in one attempt (except 1) with an award for 2 of the papers, I would say understanding the subject, practice the questions and having a good lecturer is crucial in my success. I still recall the crazy hours I've got to put in during the exam preparation... (Bo bian as I am also a mum and working full time as well) Its "brain damaging" but when u graduate and look back, u will know that its all worth it. Study hard and study smart. You can do it! Cheers!

Congrats. You completed in September paper? Yea when I look back I also didnt know how I pass them the only bad thing is they remove the graduation. Now only school will hold them

Hi, is it recommended to enrol for Acca if you do not any accounting background?
My cousin who just finished ns has no intention of continuing his IT studies and have second thoughts of crossing over to Accounting field.

I understand that there are several institute and universities which offer this certification. Which university is recommended, how long is the duration and the rough course fee.

Appreciate if anyone who can help me and share his/her experience. Thanks all.
