Hi guys I'm looking for affordable hotel to Tokyo preferably easy access to transportation and shops. However I see most are quite ex. Total 2 adults and 1 kid.

Another option I'm looking at is apartment. Anybody book apartment before? I went to this site call FlipKey. However I assume there won't be any housekeeping daily etc right.

Seriously I would prefer hotel as got daily housekeeping and breakfast.

generally all hotels in japan quite ok and maintained
where will frequent most often during your stay?

bear in mind the train journeys can take really long depending on location

My favorite too. Must reserve room early. They are always fully booked, except Tokushima.

Sign up their membership. 5% discount weekday and 20% on Sunday.

If decide next day no room cleaning is required, talk to them they might give 20% off.

Maybe you should look at airbnb apartments. Usually hotel rooms are very small with the bed (s) taking up most of the space.

So, which Toyoko Inn has the shortest distance to train/subways? I am interested to know as well. Best if have both JR and subway stations near by.

I will stay @ Toyoko Inn Ikebukiro 2 about
' 7 minutes ' walk on Google Map next week.
Its website claims ' 4 minutes ' walking distance.
Ikebukiro is a few stops from Shinjuku on Yamanote Line.

Many are near the train stations except Shinjuku one .
