Saw this Acer and Asus notebook from Amazon which to me looks attractively price and the specs look quite okay. My knowledge of notebooks is not that great so appreciate opinions and advice.

Acer Aspire E 15, 15.6 Full HD, Intel Core i5, NVIDIA 940MX, 8GB DDR4, 256GB SSD, Windows 10, E5-575G-53VG

Dell 15.6-Inch Gaming Laptop (6th Gen Intel Quad-Core i5-6300HQ Processor up to 3.2GHz, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M, Windows 10)

Is the Acer and Asus warranty international?

perhaps it will drop even more in the coming Black Friday. I will also be in the USA during that time period and thinking of getting a notebook in US from Amazon or retail shops like Target etc since the prices there look better than in Singapore.

How does the microsoft usa store compare with getting from amazon? Cheaper , more convenient?

Which physical stores could you visit in US to get good deals for notebooks, computer stuff etc?

What i see is asus singapore laptop is 2 yrs international whereas in usa, some vendors is offering 1st yr international only while some doesn't even state anything. Rule of thumb is if there is no explicit wordings stating international warranty then assume no.

Aorus usa however seems to have 2yrs warranty.

Acer warranty is international traveller's warranty.
Which means if you buy an Acer from US, to claim it in Singapore, you will need to produce a US passport.

Dell warranty depends on the model. Some models are domestic US and Canada warranty, some are international. Even for singapore models, some are Asia pacific coverage, not international. So it really depends. You will need to check out before buying.

MSI is 1st year international. 2nd year local.

Lenovo is limited international warranty, which means that the model you buy in this country must be selling in the other country as they do not stock parts across the world. (except for thinkpads). For example, if you buy a lenovo 700s from US, if Singapore has a similar Lenovo 700s model, then you get the warranty. If Singapore does not sell Lenovo 700s, then it is not covered. Thus each model's "international" coverage of countries differs. You have to use Lenovo warranty check feature to find out.

Asus is usually limited international. Similar to Lenovo. But it is better in the sense if the service centre do not have the parts, they can help you shipped in. But that takes a much longer time up to 4-6 weeks sometimes. (Lenovo will just reject the warranty upright and tell you that the model is not covered in this country).

HP warranty is usually international as well, easiest to claim among all brands. But recently they revamp their service centres. So not too sure what will be their new policies. :)

Microsoft is still new in the Surface market. They warranty rules are rather relax and is internationally covered.

Hope the info helps! :)

Anyway, singapore models are not that expensive as well. Not necessary to buy from Amazon.
For e.g:
ASUS X456UB-WX006T
Intel Core i5-6200U, 8GB, 1TB HDD, 14.0" HD, GT940M 2GB DDR3, W10, 1 Year Warranty
SGD$749

The Acer you have quoted will cost you around near SGD$900 after GST and shipping charges. And no warranty.

For the dell, after shipping charges and GST, it will be around $1200+:
ASUS K501UX-DM079T
Intel Core i7-6500U, 8GB, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 15.6" FHD, GTX950M 4GB DDR3, W10, 2 Years Warranty
SGD$1199

Thanks PC_Dreams.
The details should be made a sticky.
Thought that International, International Travellers and Limited International meant the same thing. Now I know the difference.
