Uninstalled it. Pretty much bogs down the system with it running.

Acer service is good...since is still new and under warranty, the trip is worth it...

My Travelmate C100 is with me for 6 years!..and its wroking fine..$0 spent for the MB change...(under warranty)..$90 change the keyboard only...Although I spend almost $4k for the laptop...but to divide for 6years!..still ok la...

I also recontract with SBB...now waiting for the letter ...Sianz also..I want a new laptop..BADLY

No CD given, neither do you have an easy option to burn out a recovery image. There is a built in hidden service partition (~5GB), you use it to restore the notebook software to it's original state.

If i am not wrong, there is a shortcut on your start menu to restore to factory default. My guess is that it will load during bootup and restore the system partition using the hidden 5GB hard disk space.

(Besides, Aspire One has no optical drive. How to restore it back using a CD/DVD? :s11:)

I want that 5GB returned back to me. So what I did was: I image the entire hard disk (and just to be safe, an independent image of the OS). Then deleted all the partitions. Re-installed windows XP with SP3 using USB drive. Lastly, re-patitioned the 120GB drive to meet my needs.

In the end, I got a no-nonsense Windows XP and gained the 5GB space that was taken away from me.

But to some (though I believe many), this is just a hassle to gain back that 5GB and get a running a no-nonsense Windows XP. ;)

My aspire one (and even my pc) don't use anti virus. That only slows down me down.

but if no anti virus, scarry when surfing underground website
:p

Ahh.. I am using a virtualization software. Specifically, ShadowUser (Google it). Other similar software includes Faranic's DeepFreeze and Returnil's Virtual System.

EDIT:
Or you could try Sandboxie

I did a full system restore from the hidden partition after I got the notebook. Uninstalled the Mcafee and Office 07 suite, and the OS is as good as new. No hidden junk :)

I prefer a clean, pure, system registry. I dont quite trust these software installers.

Correction: Software uninstallers.
