Hey guys,

Gathering opinions right now.

Between X1C 6th Gen and Acer Swift 5, which one will you choose; specs and price below. Both have 3 years warranty.

X1C

i7 8550u
16gb
512gb

Price 2614

Swift 5

i7 8550u
16gb
1Tb

Price 2244

I'm currently leaning towards the X1C since the keyboard is clearly superior.

Haha, true. Do you think it's worth it to fork out an additional 200 for the dolby vision WQHD 500nits display? I was thinking if spending so much already, might as well top up a bit more so can really enjoy movies and stuff.

I rmb Lisa raving about the HDR screen alot, so I'd say go for it if you're willing to accept the other tradeoffs (glossy screen, higher battery usage)

It is not an apple to apple comparison since the price on the Thinkpad is much higher if you consider the specs. Having said that, if you can afford nothing wrong going with Thinkpad.

Well, not really since the Acer is only like $400 cheaper than the X1C I am considering ($600 cheaper when you include the Dolby screen but has 1TB instead of X1C's 512gb)

The surprising thing is that most reviewers report around 8+ hours so it has quite decent battery life, even with the HDR screen.

So, the general consensus is X1C?

Without reading exact specs, I'd say the X1C6 HDR would have 6-7.5 rather 8+ hours of battery. Solely because of 8th gen cpu and the QHD display. Since money is no issue, get the X1C. Better keyboard and the trackpoint is a no brainer for me.

Swift 5 is a consumer machine. X1 Carbon is an enterprise machine. The difference in cost should be obvious.

It's unfortunate that Acer does not sell the full range of its Travelmate enterprise notebooks locally.

I like the X1C more, specs are similar to Acer, but Lenovo looks more professional, keyboard is comfy and resell value is better.

The X1C also have a micro-sim card slot, but not all models are can use 4G LTE. It's not that important unless you are working in places with no wifi.

Below is sheet with the model specifications:

Hi guys.. Side topic. Have anyone seen swift 5 in store anywhere?

The weight is attractive (<1kg) but I don't see it anywhere to try out.

Thanks, saw it yesterday. Is incredibly light indeed.

Yeah, but the keyboard isn't very good. It's comfortable, sure, but the travel is quite short. Also, I feel the blue or gold option is a bit gaudy. Otherwise, it's actually quite a nice device.

Was recommended this swift 5 at Harvey Norman from millennia walk. Fits my travel needs because of the light weight and fulfils my work and personal stuff. Currently just being typical and waiting for sale first

You can check out lazada.. The i7 model going at 1798sgd before acer60 promo and have free gift. That's probably the cheapest u can find.
