Hi guys.

Here's the problem. My brother's has an Acer XB270HU that is having this problem as shown below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiwtUCwnXcs

Just to be sure it was not the video card, I switched his monitor and mine. My XB271HU is working fine on his video card. His monitor started showing problems a few minutes after starting up my PC.

And it is out of warranty, Acer quoted $800 for the repair. They saw the video and knew the problem already.

However $800 is a bit steep. Does anyone know of a monitor repair specialist? I suspect its the HDMI port problem because sometimes jiggling it will fix it.

Either use other port with adapter or get a new monitor. Acer is trying to chop you.

This monitor only has the one DP port. If I can repair it, then it'll be good because its only about 1 yr old.

Yes I agree Acer is horrible.

Acer monitor should be two years warranty. Not local set?

Frankly I'm not sure. They checked the system and it's out of warranty.

Not always so, my friend bought a HP monitor with 1 year warranty too. His set suffered HDMI issue after a year.

This kind of damage is definitely not port...

How to confirm above statement - remove cable and turn on menu and see if still there or not

First of all, have you tried changing the Display Port cable? If wiggling causes the issue, then the issue may be cause by the cable itself and not necessarily the port.

Secondly, it is still under warranty. Why would they even ask you to pay? Something is amiss.

$800 will nab you yet another XB270HU. That is not a repair. That is complete replacement. LoL. And worst with probably one of their used monitors. Heck no.

They ignored the receipt and checked the manufacture date instead. And they said its only 1 yr. My brother already gave up anyway and bought a cheaper monitor.

Warranty already expired according to them. Acer doesn't recognize the date my brother bought it but rather the manufacture date of the unit itself.

Even registered on the website before hand didn't matter.

Already tried 3 different cables though. I'm just guessing its the soldering between the DP port and the circuit board may have lost contact or something.

Can you confirm that you have a Display Port 1.2 cable?
