Acer XC600 GPU slot

Hi guys, have an old unit with the following specs

Windows 8
i5 3470
GT620 2GB
1TB HD
8GB DDR3 ram

Currently this old unit is extremely slow (hence I am building a new system as a treat for my Husband and I) and there is some issues with the GPU (HDMI port is not working), any advice as to how to "cure" the system? Intending to swap the GPU to another more up to date GPU, nothing fancy but hopefully at least a 750ti grade GPU, and to add in an SSD to speed things up.

Main problem here is that the GPU slot is smaller than the standard holder (the metal piece behind where got 2 screws to hold the card) are there any work around for this?

Your PC is using low profile graphic card but problem is, the pcie slot is on the last slot. Which mean low profile graphic card with dual cooling slot are out.

You can try to search for either HD6670 or HD7750 single slot low profile graphic card.

I don't think any 750TI has a single slot low profile version, but i might be wrong on this.

Hmm any place specifically to search for these items? Haha do I go down to SLS? And also what do u mean by Low profile? The metal plate is shorter? Or does it mean single or 2 slots? Cause from what I see on the computer there are 2 slots, but one of them is used by the wifi

Oh and for this, what sort of games can my hubby or my kid play on this?

Yes I actually managed to snug a converter for DVI to VGA (monitor doesn't mave DVI and my previous converter spoilt when I was shifting the desktop around) but would like a more permanent solution as the unit is on the table and I actually move it around quite often when cleaning the house!
