Activate or Not Activate Auto Roam when oversea?

Will be in China next month, saw some posts that if use our local Sim auto roam, still be able to surf Facebook, true?

I'm on StarHub, 3gb for $20 autoroam data vs buy their local Sim, which is better?

Any seniors can guide?

I don't get it, are you on StarHub Postpaid or StarHub Prepaid?

If you're on StarHub Postpaid, the DataTravel VAS will be the option.
If you're on StarHub Prepaid, it'll be the Happy Roam.

Data package for both Postpaid and Prepaid are different.

In China, if you want to use Google / YouTube / Facebook / Instagram / Snapchat / Twitter etc, you only have two choices:
- Data Roaming (all traffic will go through the origin network)
- VPN (if you're using local Sim or on WiFi)

Without either one, all those services mentioned above will NOT go through the Great Firewall of China, and there are many more that are blocked too.

VPN subscription aren't cheap, and if you're not tech savvy, you may not know how to unsubscribe and keep paying for the service that you don't need when you come back.
