Hey guys,

I'll be travelling to South Korea next weekend, and will need the M1 Data Passport. I require only the Data and do not require to make any phone calls or sms.

Do I just need to activate the M1 Data Passport to have the service or do I need to activate the roaming service too?

Normal voice/text roaming is already activated as long as the subscriber (could be you) is above 18, and will only be deactivated upon request (you'll need to reactivate in that sense).

You just need to activate Data roaming and Data Passport VAS - South Korea.

I assume data roaming is the voice/text roaming?

So from what you say, i need data roaming in order to have data passport?

Data roaming is data only.
Normal voice/text roaming refers to pay-per-use-roaming, for normal voice calls and SMS/MMS only.

Data Roaming is disabled to ensure that you are not going to get bill shock because of unintended data usage.

Yes, data roaming is required to be activated. Data Passport can enable Data Roaming and network lock automatically, but you have to disable data roaming manually so wish when you stop the Data Passport VAS manually also.

Ah i see. Thanks for the explanation. Which means I just need to activate Data Passport, then Data Roaming and network lock will be activated automatically.

When i dont require them, i need to manually deactivate them.

You have to activate Data Roaming before you can purchase Data Passport.

Network lock is automatically provisioned when you activate Data Roaming or Data Passport.

After you came back, it is best to deactivate Data Passport & Data Roaming immediately, unless you're going back again (which I doubt so). Otherwise once the 30 day billing period for first Data Passport subscription is over you're required to pay another month again.

(It is billed in full months, not pro-rated.)
