"Activator" like app for Android

For those not familiar with iOS. "Activator" is a app that catches ur gesture and trigger a command of ur choice.

For example i can set to launch my music player when i hit volume up button twice, or lock my phone when i swipe on the status bar from left to right.

Currently i only know Go Switch has this "Gesture" function where you can set an action for swipe up or swipe down.

But i don't want to run Go Launcher just for this feature. Searched the internet with no luck.

Any app that can do this?

If u are not rooted, and u want the feature only when u are on ur launcher, changing to a launcher that supports swipe up/down add on functions is the only way.

If you are rooted, u can try this app

It supposedly allows system wide swipes to be recognized for custom functions, but I didn't have much luck with it on my S2.

Button wise you'll be out of luck, since different apps take control of the vol buttons differently, having an app take control over it system wide would pose some big problems imho.

I am also looking for this. I've asked people on this forum before, but they either told me that it's useless, or that I should use some other launcher. Since Android is so advanced, it's impossible that it doesn't have something simple like this

swipepad is a non-rooted solution.

Well, not exactly gesture, since you only swipe from the hotspot and it will present icons representing different actions/app for you to end your swipe. Supported actions include locking the screen, going to home, which I find invaluable as it reduce the need to press the home/power button.

The good (or bad, because sometimes it may interfer with UI elements of foreground apps) thing about this is that you can activate anywhere (on launcher or on any app as foreground).

Yup, both Nova and Apex launchers provide the "gestures", only when you're in the home screen view. I think the TS wants to activate something with gestures within applications, i.e. Activator in iOS. Hence the gestures provided in Nova and Apex launchers isn't what he wants...

+1 for tasker. Been using it for nearly 2years now. This automates my android experience everyday! To be able to detect where am I by monitoring cell grids and activate predefined switches like Wifi on/off mobile data on/off when I'm at home, at office or somewhere in between. It offers a lot more advanced options but that area I don't have time to explore yet.
