Acute wisdom toothache - what should I do?

I have an acute wisdom toothache, went to a private dental clinic and the dentist recommended surgery (>$500)...

Serving NS now so of course I want SAF to pay, some more $500 not a small sum... Can I walk in consultation at SAF dental center and request for referral for emergency same day surgery?

What should I do? If I go NDC directly is it free?

My camp don't have, but a nearby one have. Can I just walk in on Mon? Will they give a referral for a same day procedure? Mine quite jialat... Very pain can't eat and talk... I can't afford to wait.

Yes for acute problems u are able to walk in. Do update your commanders that u are going to the dental centre so that they at least know your whereabouts.

oh thank god. I'm just afraid that they will turn me away and say is only by appointment. Tried calling to ask but today Sat so the dental center is closed. Nearly forked out half a grand to surgically remove my wisdom tooth.

there is a gross lack of information on dental care for NSFs. for healthcare it's standard... fully subsidized at all polyclinics/govt hospitals/medical centers. but dental care I only know dental center refer is free, but walk-in to eg KTPH/AH/NDC idk need to pay or not. Tried googling but everyone say different things. some say surgery subsidized, extraction not... some say pay consultation but treatment subsidized, some say go polyclinic refer is free but pay polyclinic consultation... zzz

It's not gross lack of information. Is you didn't go ask.

You know who can tell you all these information? The people charging you.

So go call those hospital whether is it free or not.

Dude, you were initially asking about if is possible for a same day surgery, and about requesting a referral. What has the duration of MCs got to do in this forum?

One can try doing that. But the paramedics will be giving the patient painkillers and at the A&E, will be issuing a referral to NDC. Basically this method is pointless and patient will have to actually bear the ambulance service and A&E costs.

I was doing research and some ppl were comparing how generous different places are with MC. My point is all these don't matter to me... I just want the tooth out

But I read that dental is not free unless referred by SAF DO? does SOC include the dental division?

Depends on what kind of dental service. But afaik wisdom tooth extraction is free with referral.

Guess this sort of referral would mean "specifying a particular consultant" due to its complexity of the case.

Best is to call an enquire. But first of all, visit the SAF Dental. Approach your Offr/DXO or anyone who has OA access to check on the phone number. Or, with approval, proceed there first thing tomorrow morning.

Not all dental procedure are free.

I know wisdom tooth extraction is free.

braces is not subsidies at all.

other normal procedure can claim 50% up to i think 80 bucks a year can't really remb.
