Hello, is it possible to add the ability to embed webm as image?

the file size for a webm of similar quality to a gif will be significantly smaller!

Dear Member,

Thanks for the suggestion. We are looking into this, subject to whether or not this will conflict with the BB coding on the forums.

is this true?:
Mozilla Firefox 4 and later, Opera 10.60 and later, Google Chrome 6 and later, and IE 9 and later support playback of WebM files. In addition, many 3rd party media players support it, including (but not limited to) XBMC, VLC, Media Player Classic, Winamp, and others.

lidat those who surf on gahmen pc running ie8 cannot view animated pictures :s13:

Feedback from developer team based on their checks is that the webm implementation may not be beneficial to all.

Specifically, this would require the use of a video tag and not an image tag to work. Unfortunately, video tags have several parameters to be defined but bbcode can only handle simple implementations. That said, it is likely restricted and will not work on Safari and IE browsers. The former is used by a very big audience, so this implementation is not going to benefit a lot of people.

gifv implementation was also considered, but we rather not have scripts running, which is required of this format.
