Anyone noticing that there are barely any physical advertisements nowadays here?

With so many more ppl taking public transport nowadays, you'd think businesses find it lucrative to advertise at the train stations and bus stops.

Instead, I see empty space and public service announcements (e.g. be kind to medical workers or some other government agency message).

Genuine commerce in SG is truly dead?

The advertisers have probably realised that the physical advertisement outreach to their targeted customers is quite low for the costs they incurred.

Using online advertising can better target the correct customers with all the "personalised" ads feature.

It is not dead.

Its just taking a different form now.

If you go back to the 70s, there are big billboards on top of buildings and roadside. That has disappeared.

Or advertisements on tv and radios. That also declined a lot.

But if you go to social media like FB, when you watch a 30 seconds clip, there will be at least two advertisements to annoy you.

Nowadays everyone are glued to their phone screen, no point spending more money on advertisement at public transport spaces when companies can spend lesser on digital advertising.

160 media keeps repeating that the market in Singapore is tiny that companies have been brainwashed to stop advertising here.

If digital advertising is the way to go, then public transport fares are gonna go up at an even faster rate

Maybe govt agencies would take over all physical advert boards to cover elderly folks as well
