yea saw this on reddit as well.Yeah... really no horse run... when doing regular things like browsing internet, watch youtube... around 30W+ only.

Jialat I am getting the 7800x3d with AFII 360 as well. Temps so high?![]()
After seeing this kind of comment... I was thinking it is not the cooling... probably got to do with the way the chip is designed... maybe too much circuitry on a very small spot and of course it still have to travel through the IHS... causing the heat to accumulate quickly when underload...![]()
i didnt stress test my cpu chip with those cinebench etc because my use case is only for gaming. so i just test real world usage by playing games and monitoring my temps.Jialat I am getting the 7800x3d with AFII 360 as well. Temps so high?
I usually stress test with CineBench R23 Multi-core.... without Eco Mode I am sure to hit the so called TJmax of 89°C, but the fact is.. it never throttle down performance like what a old Intel CPU would... it just hovers around there chugging along, I think the behaviour of the chip is quite different. But I think by setting EcoMode limiting the CPU PPT to 88W... it give an overall more stabilized performance while keeping it off the TJmax... max spike around 84 ~ 85°C, while average is low 80s.i didnt stress test my cpu chip with those cinebench etc because my use case is only for gaming. so i just test real world usage by playing games and monitoring my temps.
After 2 to 3 hours of gaming, my 7800x3d gets to about 73 degrees at the hottest. Also take into account i am using a Hyte Y60 fishtank case thus my 360 AIO cooler is mounted at the top with RGB aio fans showing, so it is exhausting air to the radiator and out of the case. By right its taking the hot air from my GPU, and pushing to the radiator and out of case. It is not ideal, but for the design of Hyte Y60, that seems to be more ideal in terms of cooling with aesthetics. So i done it that way.
I dont need to do those benchmark test like cinebench etc as i dont see the need to. My rig just for light surfing and gaming only. Most of the time the temps are around 60+ and reaches 73 after at least 1 hour to 2 hours of gaming non stop.
I have undervolt my 7800x3d as well so that plays a part too i guess to lower the temps. I have also undervolted my 4070 TI as well.
Temps for GPU while gaming = 55 to 65 degrees
Temps for CPU while gaming = 55 to 73 degrees
Bought 140mm Static pressure fans to put underneath the hyte y60 case blowing upwards towards my GPU.
I am very happy with power efficiency after undervolting both gpu and cpu.
my gpu watts is only about 70 to 100 watt while gaming, average around 80+ most of the time
my cpu watts is only about 40 to 60 watt while gaming, average around 45 to 55 most of the time.
Really love how undervolting reduce the power consumption and temps by a big difference.
You can download CineBench R23 from Windows Store to try lor... do the multicore and turn on HWINFO and you should see your max temp while stressing 100% all cores.Jialat I am getting the 7800x3d with AFII 360 as well. Temps so high?
the thing is the applications i use wont even go to that limit, so no point i test something that i know i will never reach there. so i test with the applications that i will be using on my desktop.I usually stress test with CineBench R23 Multi-core.... without Eco Mode I am sure to hit the so called TJmax of 89°C, but the fact is.. it never throttle down performance like what a old Intel CPU would... it just hovers around there chugging along, I think the behaviour of the chip is quite different. infact when i did my undervolt via the PBO in bios, i straight away do -30I usually stress test with CineBench R23 Multi-core.... without Eco Mode I am sure to hit the so called TJmax of 89°C, but the fact is.. it never throttle down performance like what a old Intel CPU would... it just hovers around there chugging along, I think the behaviour of the chip is quite different. Actually that Cinebench for me is to find out how much the tweak has improve all core performance and the max load temperature lor....infact when i did my undervolt via the PBO in bios, i straight away do -30
run my applications i normally use and and the game i play, all no issues, so that determine its stable to me.
no need to stress test hehe
Which GPU are you using cos I haven't bought mine haha.Obsession about CPU temps was because intel 13900k was reaching 100degC....7800x3D temps is so mild, i dont even bother about the CPU temps anymore (wasted so much time researching the best AIO to buy best fans, best thermal paste....) , now AIO fans barely run high speed, only when i am bored and run cinebench for fun.. GPU temps and GPU fan speed however is another story... Every BG3 or diablo go to inventory menu/shop menu the GPU draws full power and the fans spin full speed... Very pitchy and noisy.
i using 4070ti zotac amp extreme and dont have such issue though. maybe its the game i play dont use much resources but it has been pretty silent.Obsession about CPU temps was because intel 13900k was reaching 100degC....7800x3D temps is so mild, i dont even bother about the CPU temps anymore (wasted so much time researching the best AIO to buy best fans, best thermal paste....) , now AIO fans barely run high speed, only when i am bored and run cinebench for fun.. cool very nice.........i didnt stress test my cpu chip with those cinebench etc because my use case is only for gaming. so i just test real world usage by playing games and monitoring my temps.

Gigabyte 4090. Diablo 3 enter merchants menu, will straight away draw 420-430w power... Same for BG3... But during game play, low usage. Everything on high/ultra settings.Which GPU are you using cos I haven't bought mine haha.
A lot of local Sapphire Nitro 7900XTX are from B&H Trading and I don't have much confidence in them.![]()
sounds buggyGigabyte 4090. Diablo 3 enter merchants menu, will straight away draw 420-430w power... Same for BG3... But during game play, low usage. Everything on high/ultra settings.
The fans i adjust to high when temp hits over 70 (hot spot is 79)
I bought MSI one... and the MSI label covering the only ARGB light... drop out.. people was laughing at it...Which GPU are you using cos I haven't bought mine haha.

But so far so good.. at least the price never drop much... dunno why Sapphire one drop so much..

I think AIO setup are overrated, 7800X3D can just go for air cooling.
