Advice for first time Smartphone Contract

Hi, first time considering buying a smartphone with plan from telco. Previously always on payg top-up Singtel hi card.

What should i be aware of? Got any way to get better deals than what is listed on their websites?

Not like there are a lot of deals for telcos.

Probably better to get the smartphone during launch as they will normally have some sort of freebies.

Unfortunately, prepaid is still the better way to go unless one needs "installments/financial leverage" to pay for a $1000 phone.

Perhaps wait till for major IT fair periods (IT Show, PC Show, COMEX, SITEX) for better deals....

you can consider contract when new iphone launch late this yr. most of the time new iphone resell value when launch is good. using the money you could buy the phone you want

or else you wait during june/sept fair when telco have booth and can get promo deal or more freebies

Yes the best is sign contract when new iphone launch then resell the iphone for high price, then you can get another phone for own use.
Have done this twice.

Pay 20bucks for a new micro sim card which will reflect on your bill when u sign contract. Since you always on prepaid, then you dun have $50 voucher (1 yr contract) or $100 (2 yr contract) lor. Have you decided which model to take? Some low end smartphone may be $0 if you sign a 2 yr contract.

all telcos run promotions for their postpaid plans every weekend. so you can check them out.

i dunoe about the rest, but as Singtel subscriber, i monitor their promotions more often. sometimes their online store got special promos/discounts. their easy mobile plans also have.

also depend on the phone model you want to buy. generally, new phones have freebies at launch like wat WhiteAnt mentioned.

but sometimes there are good promos on older models as well.

first time moving over to postpaid plans ... should take note of the one-time charges like sim card registration, activation fees etc.

only 2 gb data, m1 and starhub got 3gb of data for the same price tier.
